This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Monster!
There were some pretty bad storms that hit South of us. Large hail and damaging winds. Sure glad we didn't have that. Rain is all. At least, it has cooled off now.
Well I rode Levi tonight for the final time before the clinic tomorrow. It was a terrible ride, which is fine, because that means that I’ve gotten all the bugs out for tomorrow. They were mowing the lawn, and Levi did this half spook/jump sideways tremble combination, and one of the girls on the ground said “Geez, for such a big horse, that was a really small spook!” and I was thinking, “My god, that felt like an earthquake!” :o)
LOL - Good luck tomorrow.
Our ride is canceled. It’s going to rain, and Bob wanted to cancel anyway. Busy getting ready for their trip.
He is such a beautiful horse - I just love his head and his color :)
She does just look so innocent, (and really pretty confident you won’t get mad) :)
Levi has set his mind to taking care of you - you are both going to do great tomorrow. Be sure and thank him for being so careful :)
Wow! I knew she was pretty bright, but I never thought of that! (I'm howling here . . . )
We had a choir party tonight, about 30 people, and I thought Ruby was going to jump right out of her skin. We had to crate her, she was so crazy. Shelley on the other hand worked the crowd like a pro. . . . if somebody had something that looked good to eat, she flung herself on the floor in front of them and ran through her entire repertoire of tricks, hoping to get the treat to dispense . . .
Oh, she has me sussed. I just laugh indulgently, I’m afraid. I ought to get serious about this - but since she only goes after kleenex — and only in the box, she doesn’t go after used kleenex or rifle the trash cans — it’s not a problem unless I forget to put the box up. Otherwise she only chews on her chew toys, so for now it’s o.k. . . . so long as she doesn’t branch out to other things.
Good luck in the clinic! (we expect a full report!) < g >
Very nice:). I love rock borders.

Your dog is cute:)
Susie use to tear up anything she could get hold of. She’s a Jack Russell, and Mack called her Jack the Ripper:), he believe she’d tear up a 100 pound anvil given the chance:)
But I was like you, I could only laugh. When we’d come home and find stuff all over the place (that’s the only time she did it, when we were gone), it was funny how well she could just ignore the mess, like she didn’t even see it. I tried crating, but she hated it (I know, if I had held out she would have gotten use to it:), you could tell from her voice she would howl the whole time we were gone. I finally just would shut her in my bedroom where there was nothing she could get hold of. That worked.

Good luck Beaker, I’m looking forward to your report:)

Beautiful day, cool but sunny. Good to get my outdoor projects done, so I can enjoy some riding.
Beaker, best of luck at your clinic!
Don't forget the camera!
Beaker, good luck!
Zulu was a shoe chewer, so that ticked me off.
Gidget ripped the stuffing out of her blanket. That was usually enough to keep her occupied... I’d put the same stuffing back in it and kept it in her crate.
She did that until she was about a year old... then she could be trusted loose when we were gone.
Thanks everyone for the good luck wishes. It’s misting here, thank goodness there’s an indoor. I’m starting to get all aflutter for no good reason, so I’m keeping myself busy and watching the clock.

I don’t know how good it will be, but it’s free, and might give you some clue about Clinton Andersons training. I know you don’t get him on tv and have said you’d like to. This might be your chance:)
Becky
Huh! You know what.... we already have that! We got it free when we bought ecurbh’s saddle, I think. I just didn’t remember that it was Clinton Anderson who did it. I didn’t make the connection. I’ll have to watch it again (we just found it) paying more attention to him.
I asked ecurbh about it just now “Where’s that Ride Safely dvd we had?” He said “The Clinton Anderson one?” He knew... I guess I’m a little dense.
OH, well, watch it and let me know if it was worth the time to send away for it:)
