The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I enjoyed the pictures, nice horses.

How much land do you all have?

All of Farah’s foals have that baby doll face, she throws that consistantly although you don’t particularly see it in her.

Good morning...raining again:(.

We had one clap of thunder early this morning that just about knocked us out of bed...it did shake some of the ceiling texture off the ceiling:)

This is about the 12th snake the kittens have brought IN THE HOUSE...

Wow! That's a LOT of snakes! Good thing you don't have poisonous ones up there! Did they kill it or did you let it go?

...We have to go to a retreat to discuss the future of the library...

Oh, don't you just LOVE those things! As if it's not bad enough that you have to go to things like that during regular work time, scheduling them on the weekends is just beyond belief. And they always seem to want you to do all these goofy little "team building" exercises that just annoy the sh!t out of you. I feel for ya!

Nice looking garden and kennel! The horses look great too. That sure is a strange marking on Slick’s side. I thought he was just wet right there. Indy’s really pretty too. He looks like all of mine in that he could stand to miss a few meals. ;o)

Now THAT'S loud! It must've been pretty darned close. I've had pictures knocked off the wall when a bolt hit a tree right next to the house one time. Of course it fried half the electronics in the house too, so at least you don't have that to deal with that. See if you can channel some of that rain OUR way!

Great pictures duchess. I love asparagus. I could eat it all the time.

I'll do my best to get pictures this weekend.

It was loud, shock the whole house:) But I have to tell you, all the texture on our ceilings is getting loose. We are planning on having it redone sometime this year. All the damp weather probably helped cause it to come down.

WOW! Shook the ceiling down?

Yikes!

No - we didn’t hear about the job.

Late this afternoon we’re going to go down and work with Kat again.

We’ll probably do ~something~ with Cyn too. ;~)

No, not the ceiling, the ceiling finish, texture, that nasty popcorn stuff.

Our house is wore out, but not that wore out:)

I’m sorry you didn’t hear about the job...that’s pretty rude on their part.

Sounds like a busy horse day for you:). Today is JP day, and besides it’s raining again. I did promise JP tho, we would take a walk rain or shine. He likes to go on nature walks:)

It is a sortof busy horse day... Once we get moving. :~)

We’d also like to clean the barn. Our side is messier than the horse side ;~)

I made an appointment for vetting next week.... shots and a check up for Bay... want to talk about long term management. When I started him on the Isoxuprine, I was really thinking he’d have just a couple more years. I want to make sure we’re not doing unintended damage keeping him on it if it might be a few more years yet. Talked for a long time with his wife, who has a big warmblood with Navicular.... she’s as good as the Dr. is on this stuff.

Some were dead already... a few we let go... some had some damage, not sure if they'll make it or not. That one yesterday was pretty unresponsive.

Ugh cats and the creatures they bring home for us. This morning one of the cats came galloping up the stairs all wide eyed and jumped on my chest with what looked like a mouse with it's tail dangling in my face. I shrieked and the cat went sailing, but all it was was a hairball and a piece of string! He spit out the string and swallowed the hairball. It was a clever prank on his part, but made me feel like a fool.

We had a cat when I was a kid that used to bring families of live field mice up onto the front steps and live snakes for my little brother to play with.

JP and I had a nice walk. We stopped and waded thru a little run off stream.

And built a dam.

He went home early today because his grandparents from out of state are in and they want to take him fishing. I'm heading to town now to get feed and pick up Mack. Have a good work time with Cyn.
