This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Thanks Duchess. Flowering gardening is fun:)
Becky
I hope. I usually lock with the key. I kept the 2 year old today though. She throws stuff away. I need my books like now though.
Your garden is very pretty. I’m wondering what you are doing with that horse though:’)
Oh, OK, I was going to tell what I’m doing with the garden is Miracle Grow:)
What I’m doing with the horse is lunging him, but getting him to turn with body language. It’s something I learned at the Clinton Anderson Clinic I went to, and it really really works:). He’s lunging and turning so much better now. I don’t have to reel him in now to get him to turn.
I just squat , stare at his hip, and he turns, then I stand step quickly to the other side squat and stare at his other hip, and point with my hand the direction i want him to go, and he goes. If I just want him to stop and come to me, after he has turned to face me before sending him off the other way, just stand straight, and don’t look at him and he comes right in. It’s really cool.
If you can ever catch CA doing it on his show on TV, he’s a lot smoother then I am.

Your garden looks REALLY nice. About the weeds, get some PREEN and the next time you hoe it, sprinkle some around and you won’t have a weed for 3 months. A friend of mine told me about it and I LOVE the stuff. I used it in my pansy beds this spring and I’ll never plant without it again.
With 2yr olds around, you DEFINATELY need to keep several spare keys to everything.
I had to run to town to pick up Mack, then we went and got the new tire for the trailer (nothing like waiting till the last minute), and on the way home it dawned on me...I forgot to give Harley his bath today....
I’ve been waiting around to ride, and now mostly likely won’t, but forgot competely about his bath...I’ll probably have to do it in the morning, which is better probably. With all the rain and mud, he’d have been a mess by morning. But now I have the farrier coming at 9, then I’ll have to bathe him...I can’t believe I forgot about that.
Becky
What time are you leaving tomorrow? If you are gone before I do the morning ping, Good luck to you and have fun! And most of all have fun! Here's praying the weather is nice.
Thanks so much:)
It will probably be noon before I can get out of here. The farrier is coming at 9, and then I will have to bathe him, load the last few things, ice chest, etc. Then go.
I’ll probably be around a little tomorrow, while I drink my coffee:)
Becky
Have fun.
The guy was having trouble. I found the keys on a chair cushion. He got 20 for his trouble though. I had another key made but it doesn’t work. Someone told me they have a code and I have to go to a dealer.
Thanks:)
Becky
Ok, we will give you a good send off, tomorrow morning then.
Those are great pictures of Harley lunging :~)
You know that lester wasn’t saying so much that the line was tight, which it wasn’t, it was that Cyn was looking outside the circle and wasn’t bent inward. So she’d have the same complaint about Harley in the second shot. I say it’s part of what happens with distractions lunging, and I wouldn’t actually want them to overbend inward all the time like she claims to want either, I’d rather they be straight.
My impatiens are about that big, but they haven’t bloomed as much, just a couple flowers, lots of buds, so they will be in a few days.
I hope to talk to you in the morning, otherwise, have a great trip and a great ride. :~)
Good morning. Thanks for the tip on the Preen. It would be nice to not have to weed. But I’m wondering what it will do to ornamental grass??
Becky
Oh, well, I’m just happy he’ll lunge on a loose line. That’s taken some practice.
Becky
I agree :~)
Good morning!
Good morning. Having breakfast, and a last cup of coffee.
I caught a weather forecast...doesn’t look too bad for the weekend. Today we have the biggest chances of rain, but even that will be scattered showers. Tomorrow and Sunday the same, but a lot less chance.
Becky
Well, at least maybe it won’t be too hot?!
I hope you don’t get rained on.
Drive safe... don’t forget the camera.... Don’t forget the horse! :~)
Humidity will be more of an issue then the heat. Temps are only suppose to get to the low 80’s which isn’t bad except for the high humidity.
Camera’s are packed....I’m taking my old camera out on the trails, I’m always so afraid I’ll drop the new one, but I’ll take it for camp pictures.
Hey, do you know, will it hurt pictures to take the memory card out to switch it back and forth to different cameras?
Becky
