The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Good Morning! I worked late yesterday so I was going to cut out early today to go to the barn, but it’s supposed to storm pretty badly. I’ll go tomorrow when the weather is good and at least get one ride in this week. This weekend is supposed to be a bust.

Good morning.

Rain last night and today. That's ok, because we have not have any for about a week. Kids are leaving this morning for Columbus for the Youth show. I guess I get to stay home and take care of all these critters.

Cable was out this morning and just came back on. The last couple of days I have been having trouble again. Of course it won't be until Monday when they can come out. So if I am not online, that is the reason.

That’s interesting about your weather. Becky seems to get it first, then me a couple of days later, then you a couple of days after that. I hope you manage to get a good ride in there sometime though. It’s good for the soul after a long week at work.

It’s interesting to watch weather patterns like that. For instance, I always know that I’m going to get whatever weather front Miss Targets is experiencing a couple of days after her.

Is it a weird "hiccup" all most when you're moving along at a constant speed? My mother's toyota does that.

More than a hiccup, it is a violent jerk. Like the truck starts to die then gets revived. Mostly when you accelerate or are pulling a load.

Here is our current project at home. Power and water to the barn.

Here is that weird spot on Jakes chest. It is bald with bumps. Anyone ever see anything like it?

Aaaaaeeeee! Looks like you have a giant mole!

One thing that Lee was going to do when they layed new water line at his dad’s house was to put old horse shoes down in the trench while it was open. That way if you ever need to find it again you can just use a metal detector. It sounded like a good idea to me. Lord knows we’ve got enough old shoes laying around.

It just occured to me that Squamous Cell carcinoma kinda looks like that. You might wanna have the vet look at it.

Heh Heh...Jake's got dreds.

Yikes. Get a biopsy yesterday. That doesn’t look real good to me.

I don’t know what I’d do without cable spools!

That is a good idea, we have lots of old shoes although I think Gary has been dropping them behind the unfinished part of the kick boards in the barn. It runs right along the fence lind so should not be to hard to find again if needed.

That is not a good thing! We will have it looked at, Blade needs Coggins and shots this month anyway.

Heh Heh...Jake's got dreds.

His mane mats up so easily that I just decided to braid it. Gary says he looks like a sissy.

I did some internet research and it says that SCC is most frequent around the eyes and the genital and abdominal area. We will take him in Saturday to have it checked. I think the truck can make it that far.

It might be good to just drop the shoes at the points where you have a joint in the PVC, since that’s where you’d be most likely to develop a leak in the future and might have the need to dig it up. Just a thought.

And a good thought. We have to cover it up still so will do that tonight.

Yeah, I read that too, but I think it CAN develop in other areas. It could also be Basal Cell Carcinoma. Hopefully it’s just a nasty skin rash, but it wouldn’t hurt to have it biopsied anyways.

Are y’all still planning on coming up to KC’s and riding this weekend?
