The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Welcome to the thread, Judicial Meanz. Thanks for posting pictures of your critters.

I only went to the horse show for a little bit yesterday. The dust the terrible and I didn't need that around my eyes. Good timing, as Amy was showing in her Western Pleasure classes. She won quite a few ribbons with PJ and ended up winning High Point Adult. With such a beautiful day, the place was packed. I bet it was midnight, before they were finished with the gaming classes.

Thanks for the welcome. I have more horses, but I only posted those two for now. Yesterday was a busy day.

We took the draft mare in the picture above out to the trainer yesterday. Finished up about midnight.

PJ (Phathom Jazzy) is the 18 yo QH that Alison showed in Walk-Trot a few times last year. She used Andy at the majority of shows, as another boy was using PJ. He is owned by a long time friend and we leased him for Alison to use this year. He is a push button, steady, very well trained horse that been around the ring a few times. There were not any classes for Alison yesterday, so Amy showed. If I had not cleaned out my pc from pictures, I would post one of the ones I took before. I did not take my camera yesterday.

Lots of posts to catch up on from the weekend. That algebra stuff nearly made me run away though!

Watched the Derby but couldn’t watch the Barbaro special. Had it on for 15 min and the BF came in the room and caught me watching with tears just pouring down my face. He made me turn it off and took me out.

The alpacas and goats are really cute. Saw some alpacas on our bike ride yesterday and they were really hairy!No climbing goats though.

Judicial meanz - nice horses. I’ve got a few arabians and their pics are on my profile page. The drafts look magnificient.

Duchess - CJ looks so pretty. Grew from cute to striking!

We have our first show this weekend. Will get pics if I can get a card for the DVD player. Still learning how to use that thing. Deuce won’t be shown but looking to do well and have fun with Whitey. Just not sure if I’ll have time to get to the store for the card.

Looks like such a lot of fun for a kid. So funny how he will wear all those hats:)

I was looking at the one where all the alpacas are welcoming him home, and wanted to say, I love that tan one in the back with the hair hanging over one eye. He looks a bit dashing:)

I like that tan alpaca too... he looks like a mop-head surfer teen idol guy or something. :~)

They’re really kind, gentle animals, they get hats put on them, and they get pulled around the obstacles by kids, and they just put up with all that so well. Very forgiving animals, gentle temperaments.

OK, everyone cross your fingers for me...Mack is on his way to town to check things out. Charlie just left here...one of the roads that I’ve never seen flood on the way to our house is flooded, so it is bad.

When it rains it pours....

I just heard there was a bomb explosion at the Luxor Hotel in Vegas in the parking garage. It would have happened at the time my brother would have been going to work there.

That’s good... What the heck is going on... I look at the TV for news of this Luxor bomb, and they’re covering some bomb threat in Miami.

I don’t know, the guy I talked to at the Hotel, kind of seemed like, Yeah he’s OK, why wouldn’t he be. I said, I heard there was bomb there, he said yeah, but everything is OK...so who knows.

The story I got was two men found a back pack in the garage, picked it up to see what it was, and it went off. It was during a shift change right when Dan would have been going to work.

Kind of scared me.

Talked to Mack, our building is fine but the resturant next door is flooded. Looks like another hard round is heading this way. Our little creek at the bottom of the hill is to the top of the culverts, and the big creek we cross on the way to town is about out of it’s banks. When I go I’ll take the camera. I’m having lunch then will go and maybe take a drive past 2J’s to make sure she is OK if we haven’t heard from her.
