This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

This is her dam, TE Class Fantasy - it's a roan not a grey and comes with the Goer bloodline a lot of the time.
This is her grandsire, Class President - Fantasy's sire. He and Fantasy both did this.

Did you catch that Rolex Cross Country event on TV today. The one where the lady is being investigated for abuse?
I just happen to catch the last part, and saw her run. Even Mack said she had plenty of time to pull up the obviously lame horse before she got to the jump. They didn’t show the whole clip that was on Youtube for a while, but there was enough. It was interesting because of the comments the announcer made. He was in the process of saying the horse had sprained something as she took the jump.

I didn’t catch the Rolex event. I did a search for a video on youtube, but it was so herky-jerky that it made me sick to watch. I saw where he fell to his knees when he took one of the last jumps, and if I was in her place, I would not have kept going. I couldn’t tell if he was lame before he took the jump though because they were going so fast and the movie was so blurry.

Thanks :) CJ is a she. Watching the color change is mind blowing I have to say, and this is the third time I’ve seen it happen. It virtually happens overnight and then gets progressively whiter like the spots are growing.
Maybe Sam, too?
I don’t think Sam will, he doesn’t have a Goer bloodlines. However, Slick is starting to roan and has a large dark spot on his side like Sonny does. It’s possible that Sam will do the same thing.
Wow... CJ looks really cool right now. So flashy. Too bad she won’t stay just that way! But you’re right, even when she’s done roaning out, the black mane and tail will still be really striking.
She won’t be ready for our first show on May 20th but I think Bob and the kids will try to show her the rest of the year. It will be interesting to see what people think of her.
