This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Ah - good.... glad it was a good day. Tell us everything you have the energy to tell!
Those clincs are always really fun to watch. I can’t wait for the pictures. I’ve seen John Lyons clinics a couple of times and the Equine Affaire in Springfield, and at the time he also had his blind horse that pulled a wagon. (Can’t remember the horses’s name)
lol thanks
Wow :~)
I don’t know what to say. I’ve never seen anything like that:’)
This is the first horse he worked with, a 2 yo mare. She was pretty wild when he started. When we first got there they had just put her in the pen, she tried to come over the top of it once. She got to be in there for about 2 hours before he really got started with her. So she had calmed down some. But watching her progress in such a short time was amazing. His apprentice rode her before they finished with her, and they will ride her again tomorrow in the arena. In this picture he is getting her to disengage her hind quarters.
This is when he finally was getting on her bareback. He said this type of thing doesn't count as a "ride". A ride is when you have a leg on both sides.

Whoa!!!
Becky
What all is in there?
I know! There’s real laqured wood paneling throughout the barn that is better than I’ve seen in some houses. An Equine four star hotel and spa. :-)
Looking at the picture, to the left is the barn, which is huge and extends out the back so you can’t see it. There were many, many stalls. To the right is the indoor, which is also huge, I think bigger than a regulation dressage arena, though it’s a dressage barn, so that might be a full size dressage arena. You have to go down a “hallway” to get from the barn to the indoor. It passes right by the foyer. The indoor is also wood paneled.
It sounds like you had a great day. And that barn sounds nicer than my house :)
It IS nicer than my house - by a long shot :)
I’d love to go to one of his clinics. Did he say if the two year old was off of ranch pasture or had she been handled much? Thanks for the pictures. After you get rested up from the weekend I hope you can give us a lot of tips.
So Becky - here's what a dirty blonde looks like :)
It counts in my book, I think he's more vulnerable that way than if he had a leg on both sides ;~)
She is cute :~) Spots is such a gambler’s business.
Her mamma has roaned out to almost white from a blanket as a baby so I imagine the kid will roan out too. Bob and my son and I were talking this afternoon about it. Sonny doesn’t throw color, he throws thoroughbreds :)
Heh... well, that’s not a bad thing :~)
If he roans out, that counts as color, right?
