The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I don’t know. My laptop went out and they had to send another so I’ve been off 2 days. I guess it’s getting somewhat better. I’ve been thinking about quiting after this project is done. I should get my first check tonight:’)

I don’t think she is part pit though because she hasn’t bit me. Cindy is such a pushover. I gave them both bone biscuits (big ones) She took Cindy’s right out of her mouth. I chased her down and pried her mouth open and pulled it out. I offered it back to Cindy. After all of that, she wouldn’t have anything to do with it. I wasn’t giving it back to Cocoa so I took it in the house. Awhile later my DIL came over. I looked down and I’ll be darn if my 2 y/o granddaughter wasn’t chewing on it.

She is a sweetheart and very laid back. No fear and curious as all get out but none of the jumping, in your face that Blue has. I fell in love with her eyes :) remind me so much of my dobie.

Well, once you get the check you’ll know if it’s worth the hassle. Kids love dog biscuits, don’t you know :) and dog food for that matter.

I took it out of her mouth too and gave her a new rawhide bone. Her momma took it away though. She said she read somewhere that they can harbor salmonella.

Pits don't generally bite the alpha dog.

Labs on the other hand bite EVERYTHING, just not very hard. I thought Ruby was going to tattoo me with those sharp puppy teeth of hers! She still is very mouthy, much more mouthy than Shelley ever was. And the LICKING! OMG! It's a wonder she hasn't worn the skin completely off my ankles while I'm typing on the computer, she just lies there adoring at my feet going "SLURP SLURP SLURP SLURP". Never seems to get tired of it.

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

It is going to be really nice here for the next couple of days. Starting to dry up too.

I think you got yourself a good one there.

She'll soon put Blue in his place!

LOL...you’ve made this error twice today:)

Boy, that lady is as eccentric as me:), too bad we’re on opposite sides of the issue, tho:)

You made some good points, glad you showed up:)

Heh... Gender seems to be a detail I can easily get confused about ;~)

Fun debate... We’re going to start the process of loading saddles back into the trailer shortly, and go out for our ride this afternoon.... Nice day here...

Will report back here when we return... :~)

Look at the size of this DOG!! He's a mastiff I think, and was just awarded the record of world's largest dog. Found the pic over at the horse.com forum

Meet Belle Star :)

Nothing cuter than a lab puppy (well maybe an Irish Setter puppy ;-) She is adorable.

Just got in from my ride.

it was a fun debate, but IMO, the woman does not know how to read a post except to read a lot of stuff into them that is just not there....I can’t debate with some one like that....I never know if it’s me not posting well, or their reading skills...

According to snopes.com, it's a fake.

Claim: Photograph shows Hercules, world's biggest dog. Status: False

The picture appears to me to be digitally manipulated, because the dog is in sharper focus than the man standing next to him - in fact, all the figures in the photo are slightly less sharp than the dog.

It’s still a neat picture, if only for the “WHAAAA...?” value!

Agreed, it was fun for awhile, but becomes unfun when she won’t give an INCH. phooey.
