This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I’m willing to take the risk... The Washington gal isn’t going to be the one to say the risk of rain in OK is too high :~)
And I have sweaters.
LOL...I think we picked Oct. hoping the trees will be changing then.
Any time in the fall and spring when the heat is not bad is going to be a risk. Sept and Dec. could be just as good or bad as Oct. June, July and Aug, would be the only months that the risk of rain would be less, but then you risk the heat.
So pick your poison.
LOL...I just looked out my window and saw my RV...so you see I have plenty of places to put people:)...no one will have to sleep in a tent, even if you bring the bigger trailer.

Sounds like a plan. Let's do it.
~taps fingers still waiting for farrier~
I hate that..d@#% farriers:)

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Just kidding! I don't snore. Or I don't think I do. Lee's never complained about it, but then I don't think he'd ever hear it above his own snoring. ;o)
It was in the 40's when hubby and I rode last November! Layer, layer, layer.
I don't think I do either. Never had any complaints but like Lee, Gary wouldn't hear me above his snoring!
Speaking of saddles, what’d you ever end up doing with that Wintec english saddle you bought that didn’t work out?
Really?! Around here, October is one of those month that you can usually be assured of some really nice weather. It rarely ever rains. The humidity is low and it's usually in the 70's during the day with 40's at night. Perfect horse weather! That's what we'll pray for anyways.
Remember I sold it to my neighbor, who paid for it by going and making a payment on my new saddle so she could put it on her credit card.

Yeah, rain is a strong possibility. After Aug, we can get rain here on a pretty frequent basis:\, then as you move in to Oct. it can be cold, but it can also be very nice. Nothing is for sure from Sept till June, and anything is possible. From June till Aug, you probably won’t get rain, but you will get heat that we would lose Hair in:)
I’ve heard from some of the competitive riders, that one year in Sept the Labor day pleasure ride at Robbers Cave was just beautiful, the very next weekend at the competitive ride it was very cold and sleeting. A lot of the riders had come for the Labor day ride and stayed the week for the competitive ride, and hadn’t come prepared for such a drastic change. I don’t know but I’d bet my last dollar the next weekend it was probably very nice again.

Well, it’s nice out... I’m going to go give Bay a real bath. With shampoo. That’ll probably get Mark to drive in, right when he’s all soaped up.
Oh yeah! I remembered the neighbor part, but not the credit card part. I remember now. She wanted to make payments to you but you didn’t want to risk her not paying, and I don’t blame you. It worked out better for both of you for her to do it like she did.
I gotta log off. The computer’s going down. Back after while...
It’s so chilly here today, I’m not going to ride. I need to do housework anyway.
I may go push the weedeater around tho later. It’s great for that.

Bay got a BATH. It was a little on the cold side still, here in the shade where the hose is, but I did it as quick as possible and took him out to move in the sun...
The boy can still trot, eh? :~D
I also clipped his armpits... he gets cinch rubs so easy, I figured that the loose shedding hair balling up wouldn't help.
I'm glad I don't have to show him... his hair is a different color at the root, and he'd be really hard to get perfectly even. He'd look like a moth-eaten buckskin.
Still no shoer.... ~makes face~
I wonder if I should do that to Blade, he is shedding out big time right now. Never thought of shaving his pits. Supposed to be cold this weekend so probably won't get to bathe. Lows 20's in the mornings highs only in the low 50's. Considering we were in the 80's last week! Brrr.
What time was he suppose to be there?
Yes he can trot, looks very pretty and regal:)
I went out to weed eat a bit, and there just isn’t anything really to mow. I got all the big weedy spots the other day...so I’m bored.
