The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I was thinking:)...if you all could drive out on Thurs. then you could decide if your horses need a day to recover, or maybe a short ride to loosen them up, then the big one on Sat. Then they could have Sun to rest before the drive home on Mon.

Just a suggestion.

Becky

Would your horses be OK to go on a long ride after such a haul the day before?

We have hauled them to No Tenn and rode the next day with no problems. That was an 8 hour trip. I think they can get the kinks out overnight, what do you think Frog?

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing, and that would be ok with me, but I don’t know if it’ll work for BladeRider.

That might work. Pumpkin Patch on Sunday while horses are resting?

I can take 3 vacation days.

Course, your horses are going to be ‘resting’ just walking with all the other non-gaiteds. ;~)

Well, ya gotta point there, ‘specially if I bring Hope. She’s fairly good at being relaxed, and so is Blade. Now Bob might be a different story. He’s a little more “spirited”.

Blade likes to walk! He is pretty lazy.

“spirited”.

Well put. I think Hope and Blade might ride better together for 13 hours.

Good Afternoon!

Cable repairman was here this morning. He changed a line in the house and put in an order, for a new one from the road. Also, he gave us a power boost. We have 4 TV's hooked up, so that can bog down the signal. Hopefully, this fixes it, I just can't go without my daily "fraggin" fix.

This is what we are having today. About 3 inches and still coming down. It was almost 80 on Tuesday!

Daffodils in the snow.

Ok, I’ve been figuring my itinerary and figure you have to come at least by the 16th and stay at least till the 22nd...longer if you can manage, but at least that, or there abouts:)

Or we could pull my 3h and take all three! Then somebody else could ride gaited if they wanted to. But even if we don’t, it might be better to take that trailer for such a long trip, just so they could put their heads down while they were riding. Just a thought.

I’m heading out to the Chiropractor’s office here in a minute. I woke up with a bad crick in my neck and I don’t want it to ruin my weekend. Talk to ya later...

October sounds good to me. As far as how long I will stay. That is up to you. I would probably leave on a Thursday or Weds. (slow driver) and maybe stay until a Monday or Tuesday the next week. It’s a 15 hour drive and almost a 1000 miles, so I will have to stop on the way.

I can't stay that long, although I wish I could. I can do 18th through 22nd. Those two days being driving days. Visiting and riding days would be 3 days 19th-21st. What do you think Frog?
