The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well, the interview yesterday is only really part time, so it won’t really get in the way even if he does get it.

How about the weekend of Oct. 20th? It ought to be cooler by then and the leaves should still be pretty.

I just have to make sure that I’m not gone the same time as one of my co-workers, but so far, any weekend in October will work for me.

She has a lady customer that has the new model, and when she first got it, she let Jenny drive it around the parking lot:). Jenny thought that was pretty cool.

That weekend is OK for me too. Frog we still have the vehicle situation. I am not sure my truck will make it. We can of course take my trailer, but that poor old truck is another issue.

Oh, and $35 is fine with me. I’ve paid that before. Most places around here ask for $5 or $10 for a day ride, but you’re own your own on the trails and provide your own lunch. So if you can get him down to $25, that’s great, but if you can’t, don’t worry about it. I figure I’m on vacation so what the heck. I’ve paid a lot more than that to do stuff that was a whole lot less fun.

I think that’s kind of up to how much you want to show us, and how many days that will take :~) I think you were here the right number of days... whatever that was, it was a perfect trip, we had a couple busy days with a couple relatively down days to rest and just visit.

Well, I guess that depends on how much riding and talking we all wanna do. I think BladeRider and I were planning on at the very least, driving over on a Friday, staying the weekend, and maybe driving back the next Monday. But we could add a day or two if everybody else is staying longer. Stop me if I’m speaking outta turn here BladeRider.

I am sure we could make individual choices as to how short or long the stay will be. I think Frog and I talked about driving out on a Friday and coming home on a Monday.

I have to figure my vacation days out. I have to reserve some days for our anniversary trip or I will be dead meat.

I think I came on a Wed. and left on the next Tues. Flying during the week is cheaper then the weekends.

I’m figuring we will do about what we did at your place. Ride about every other day. We don’t have anything like a volcano to go explore, I’ve been racking my brain for some touristy type activity, but there is just nothing here. SOOOOO...I’ve been thinking of other ways to entertain. A play day/evening at the building to play pool, ping pong, cards, darts, and karaoke once we all get going:).

Then one evening I figured we could have a bonfire/cookout here at the house, and maybe even get on the horses and run some timed events in the arena.

But more then anything, I just think it will be fun to relax and visit some too, not always be tearing around doing things.

Oh, one afternoon, I’ll have to take you to the Pumpkin Patch place, it will be going full bore then and it’s a fun place.

How many days do you get? I get 3wks and I haven’t used any yet. I usually try to save a week for a cruise or a dive trip or something with Lee. Then I take a few days around Christmas, but the rest is just when ever I want to take it.

This depends on what you think about how your horses will be after such a long haul, if I get this ride set up with the snobby guy (lol), it would have to be Sat. I don’t think he would do it on Sun. Would your horses be OK to go on a long ride after such a haul the day before?

I did just find out my only conflict that far out is Oct 4-5... so any time around the 20th is good for me.

I get 3 weeks too. I will use a week this month for our National Specialty dog show, then I was going to go to Houston for a dog show in July (3 days) I was thinking of going to my High School reunion in San Diego and take 3 days then my anniversary trip in November would be 3 days. I may skip my reunion. It would be fun to see how everyone has aged and what they are up to, but then do I want them to see the same in me? Maybe not.
