Here's my pansies. They're a bit soggy, I miracle growed them yesterday, and was going to take pictures today after they dried up, but it's been raining, but they still look pretty good. You can see the daisy's among the rocks.

I've been planting some annuals, but I haven't wanted to thin out the pansies to do it, but I know they are going to die out when the heat hits.I've put in a flat of New Guinea Impatiets. I had to work them in between.

One of the dasiy's.

I did those dwarf sunflowers last year. The looked good for awhile, but died off because I didn't take care of them that well. I was a bit disappointed tho, even when they looked good they didn't look like the ones on the package...I didn't get the varitey that they showed in the picture.

I've seen ones who appear to just glide though, so I know they're not all like that.

I rode a Paso Fino at a field tril in FLorida once. It was the smoothest thing I have EVER rode. But you are right it did take a lot of fast little steps.

Birds love sunflowers if you've got full sun back there. I bought several packs of the multi-colored dwarf ones this year but I haven't planted them yet.

I will have to try that. I did not know they came in dwarf. It is FULL sun. It is on a joint fence where the horses are. They should not be able to get to it because it is separated by a 6 foot chain link fence, but want to make sure any leaves that might shed won't be toxic if they get into the pasture. My hubby has been real careful about trees he plants making sure that fall leaves won't be a problem with the horses. There are a lot he has told me about that I did not know were toxic to horses.

Of course you have to remember to keep the feeders full.

It would be on the way to the barn so I would pass it at least twice a day so should not be a problem. I guess I need to get started pretty soon!

I had always wanted a horse but my Mom was scared to death of them and always told me that I'd never have one as long as I lived under her roof,

My mother told me that I could have one when I was 18. So, the day that I turned 18, I went out and leased myself my first horse. :-) My nana, god love her, is terrified of horses. However, she would come to my horse shows faithfully, figure that one out.

I've noticed that there are a lot of places that have gotten bad that never did before. We have in the last few years gotten a lot more kids riding them then use to:(

We've had problems with kids having bonfires and drinking parties out in the woods, and sometimes there're broken beer bottles and shredded aluminum cans that we have to avoid. :-(

Sorry for the long pause, I just got back from lunch.

Your pansies have filled out nicely too. The purple and the orange go well together.

Will those daisies fill out much? I've never tried to grow any of those so I didn't know. Will they keep blooming throughout the summer or are they kind of a one-shot deal like the Tulips are?

Sorry for my long pause, I came to town and am watching Flicka with Jenny, she has a customer so I'm here to look at your videos:)

The daisy's will bloom all summer, in fact they do best in the hot summer. They don't get real big,not much bigger then they are now as far as the foliage. I guess they might get bigger if I dug them up and brought them in during the winter which you can do. They come in lots of colors and are just a nice big flower.

No, I think it played smoothly. It may be that it has to load up in the buffer first. I've noticed that jerkiness sometimes on some other video that I've watched. Usually if I let it play all the way through, then click view again it plays smoothly the 2nd time around. If it doesn't, then I don't know what the problem is.

Thanks Miss Targets, I did receive your link the last time you posted them. There are NO horse motels along I-77 at all. I might have to find an alternative route.

Yes I did get to ride but it got boring going up and down the driveway at the barn ...the grass was too wet. When we got to the yearlings pasture is when he would start to neigh. It was kind of interesting.

As far as a companion goes, don't you think that Waylon will be lonely all by himself? After all they are herd animals. When we are at the cabin he gets real bored by himself and starts pawing and neighing when he's had enough.

If he normally doesn't get too upset, when you take him away from the barn, then I would say go ahead and get him a companion. The problem can develop when he gets too attached and won't want to leave his buddy. Some horses don't care and some really carry on, to the point that taking them away is a real struggle. The ones here will call to their buddies, if some are out and some in. One thing, they do have to learn is when they are being worked or ridden, they have to be quiet. They will begin to realize that sooner or later, they will be back with the herd.

Isn't the area you are moving too a horsey community? Will he be able to see other horses in other pastures from where you will keep him? If so that should be enough companionship.

Good Morning.

The Golden Retrievers came back last night. The older male and one pup. Full of burrs and muddy. The male, Cody, is even skinnier than before. They gulped down the food we gave them. We are thinking of not giving them back. Obviously they don't care about those dogs very much. Makes me wonder what happened to the other female puppy.
