The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Happy First Day of Spring to you too! However, spring is AWOL here right now. It's COLD. Supposed to get up to 64 by friday though. That's exciting.

Good morning all :~) Clear and a little chilly here this morning!

Our electric fence charger appears to have quit. No power, no light, no ticking when it's plugged in. Anyone know if there might be a fuse or something in it that might have blown before we just up and replace it? It's a Power Wizard and it's been on pretty much 24/7 for about 6 years... so maybe it's just worn out, but we were going to go take it down here in a bit and see if it looks like there's anything we might be able to replace and get it going again.

There's a trouble shooting guide on their website. Would that help you? It might tell you what to do and/or direct you to replacement parts, or just tell you that you're outta luck and need a new box.

So yeah, I just completed the guide and pretended that I had a box that wasn't working, and they just told me to take it to an agent for "service and repair" But first it had the gall to ask me if it was plugged in.... :-/

Yeah - we found the trouble shooting guide to 'not be very helpful' ;~)

Well, we'll take it down in a bit and take it apart and see if we can find a fuse in it. Otherwise... I think we'll be ordering a new one... I wouldn't have any idea where to take it to fix it, and I doubt they'd fix it for less than it's worth.

Morning all. I had to go buy Off today. The mosquitoes are back. I think I'm going to sell Sarah Lee. That or put her on psychotropics.

That, I think, requires some explaining! :-)

I just love to watch the Big Dogs work . . .

Yep, those big dogs get down and dirty, unlike those litte dogs.

Nothing really different. Just venting. I'm just tired of her crap. Yesterday she acted so happy to see me and did anything I wanted. Today, during my lesson of course she showed her butt. I waste my lesson lunging the buck out of her. Even then... I put her on a lunge line and when she would buck and I would turn her around, I don't think she figured it out though because then she didn't want to go back to her gait. Guess she thought that was what she was in trouble for. I'm just tired of always working. It would be nice to just go for a ride sometimes. I've been talking myself out of selling her for awhile. Maybe tomorrow when I'm not so P/O I'll reconsider. I hate to keep horse shopping but I'm not ready to buy a roll of quarters yet either.

She was suprised too. SL started moving away from the mounting block and throwing her butt out, so we didn't even start out good. She said that she can sell her for me and get me a "nag" but she wants one of her workers to check her out first. We are going to try again Friday.

Couch dogs!

Mine are couch dogs too, just take up more room.

Ruby wishes she were a bed dog like Shelley. Whenever she can sneak away, she runs upstairs and plonks herself down in the middle of our bed and lies bolt upright like a Sphinx with an appealing expression -- "See what a good bed dog I am?"
