This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Wow, I really like the top guy:) very pretty.
Becky
I sure hope it straightens out too.
Becky
The top guy is Mr Glo Jangles, he's a world champion. I don't know who the second one it - it's her new stud.
Heh... I posted over there to you about the pictures..... Don't you have some pics from show where he really looks great, good poses? Or are they too old now? Could be they're from last year.
I'll go see :) Yes, I've got his show pictures but he has really matured a lot since then. The pictures I took today are of him dirty and wooly, well, as wooly as he gets.
LOL...I thought they were great pictures, the best set I've seen on that forum so far. And as far as dirty...good heavens, my first thought was , how the heck do you keep his butt so clean and white!!!
Becky
Well you've seen this guy, but it was a good picture of him relaxing:)

Jenny and the kids climbing around on the rocks around the creek.

This boat showed up in the creek a few years ago...we first noticed it from the road...this is the first time I've been down to the creek to get pictures of it.

This bridge is below our house, and crosses the creek I ride thru. This damage was done to it the last time water covered it. Water has been over this bridge about 4 times since we've lived here. This happened about 5 years ago.

Tucker playing on a roller coaster I have in the front yard:)

LOL - I don't know how he stays clean, he hasn't been bathed since about October. He generally saves the dirty green spots for 15minutes before going in the show ring.
Now I'm going to worry about a skeleton under the boat - sort of like the garbage can in Hair's woods.
You know I got to thinking that same thing about that boat:).
I'd bet tho, some kids have checked it out last summer...You could see alot more of it last year when the creek wasn't so high...I'd just love to know how it got there...It's on the downside of the bridge, I don't think it would have fit thru the culverts under the bridge, and besides, there is a rocky area it would have had to go over to get where it is...But hauling it down there to dump...WHY??? If someone dumped it why go thru the trouble of hauling it down there...it would have been very difficult.
Becky
Great pics of resting horses and happy children!
Might the boat have washed downstream during the big flood? Or other smaller floods? Is there anywhere upstream where there's water big enough for someone to have had that kind of boat on it?
Well they are better for evaluation purposes than many that get posted, I'll grant you that... I just think Tuffy's more extraordinary than they make him look. ;~)
Okay, now you just have to find someone to turn that boat over and see what's under it. :)
LOL - he is pretty tired right now, he's been working for a living the past few days, breeding Tyke. The really nice thing about Friday leaving is he won't be bred to her - although the trade off is I'll still have another foal with Farah. Hopefully though, that one will be sold the minute it hits the ground.
Heh... I bet the best pictures would have been right before he was bred... I know I liked the way my stallion looked when there was a mare in front of him... I'd say "that!" "That's the look I want in the ring!"
He's figured it out but he's pretty calm about it. When he's in his paddock before he's brought out he's snorting and bucking but Bob's got a thing about rowdy studs so once his halter is on he behaves. I'm hoping he'll still behave at the shows this year, being just two and finding out about mares is asking for trouble IMO.
As I said, it would have had to go thru the culverts, and get over a very long rocky spot...In the last two years the water has not been high enough to wash it down there. There's an old trail that it could have been hauled down to where it's at, it just doesn't make sense why any one would. There would be no way to go anywhere, it's stuck in one of the spots in the creek that holds water all year but at both ends there are rock spots that are very seldom under water.
The only thing I can think is kids drug it down there to play, but how did they do that?
As far as the floods, we've been down to the creek many times since any of them, we would have seen it afterwards. The last time it flooded was 5 years, the boats only been there the less then 2 years.
Becky
Huh.... it's a mystery!
Jenny wants to go back this summer when the creek is lower, and paint "Orca" on the side of it:)
Becky
That'd be pretty funny :~)
