This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Thank you. How true these are.
No problem, we thought about that too, but I feed ProPlan kibble and a little Pedigree canned and none of those were on the list.
What a great shot! She looks like she's really enjoying it. I'll bet setters in Agility classes are a pretty rare thing, especially show setters. Was she your only setter or do you still have a housefull like you used to.
Actually she did not have the fire for it like some do. She did it because I asked her to. I bred the first MACH2 (Master Agility Champion level 2) in the history of the breed, now that one loves it. I have Fancy's daughter, her son and her granddaughter and will be getting another granddaughter that was born Friday (ironic huh) from a lady in Canada that owed me a puppy. So I guess you could say I do have a houseful, that helps.
I know that having the others isn't the same as having her, but it sure makes it easier when you've got another furry red shoulder to bury your face into when you're sad.
That's exciting about the new puppy. There's nothing much cuter than a little setter pup!
Oh, what a cutie:)
Becky
I'm so sorry.

The first is this Western saddle one. It's really cute. It was made to mount from the bottom, not hang, so we put it on this pole and put it out in the pasture.
The second one had a hook to hang it, so we put it in one of the trees in the paddock. I thought it seemed a little heavy for the little hook, so the baling twine I have around the bottom is to hold some of the weight so it doesn't fall down.
Also a project to replace the feeder Cyn has broken... She grabs and thumps her feed pan when she thinks we're late for a meal and finally cracked and broke it loose, so ecurbh is removing the rest of it, which Cyn found amusing. I hung the bucket there to use from now on, I'm sure she'll find an equally fun way to make noise with that. :~\
You're being a little hard on Cyn there, she was just displaying her intellegence and problem solving abilities :)
Well, Friday and Sam will probably go to the breeder on Wednesday. I agreed for Farah to be bred but asked that they wait until next month on that so I don't have another February foal. They are thinking about Bam Bam also, as a possible lease. Keep your fingers crossed on that :)
She's a pill.
Sounds like you've got a good thing going with these people :~)
How are "Sam's" legs... did he straighten up already?
His one leg is still a bit crooked although it's much better than it was. Hoping it straightens all the way up.
Boy, they're both pretty, aren't they?! Which is the one they want to geld?
Ah - so is he still on restricted movement then?
Neither one. It's a solid black they want to geld. Once they found out that I'd let Farah be bred if she stayed here, they want to breed to one of the main guys. The chestnut is a World Champion, I'm not sure what the status of the dun/buckskin is. That's why I'm thinking they might take BamBam, to breed to the black along with Friday.
I hope he keeps straightening up... it's still ironic to me that a mare that color can throw a foal without one white hair on him.
I bet he sheds out just chestnut... But who knows!
I really do hope his legs straighten. They've gotten better but still have a long ways to go.
PS - I put Tuffy's pictures on the horse forum - conformation.
Ah - I'll go check 'im out :~)
Looks like you had a productive day.
Becky
