~Shivers~ February is almost here :~)
Cool pictures Cindy! I liked the Pecos river picture the best. Boy that was a long way down! Thanks for posting them!
Hey! Thanks! I'll follow up...
I can't believe ecurbh is having to cut what looks to be a 10 inch tree with a sawsall! Poor guy! He needs a chainsaw for his birthday!
He does, I think we'll have to break down and get one... As long as he doesn't cut his foot off!
Good luck with it - don't be shy to ask questions :~)
They're pretty darned handy to have around but you're right about them being dangerous. Lee bought some Kevlar chainsaw chaps not too long ago and I'm really glad he did. I worked in an ER years ago and couldn't tell you the number of people who came in with chainsawed kneecaps. Yuck!
Yeah - we've talked a lot to dad about it, a chainsaw is about the only power tool dad hasn't bought for me as a present... I just don't think he wants to be responsible for that.
But you know, that saws-all works pretty well! Can't go a lot bigger than that tree, but it cut through it in a couple minutes!
I've seen little short electric chainsaws too. Some of them come on an extension pole, for cutting limbs off higher up. I always thought those were cool. I'd love to use our chainsaw, but nobody will show me how to crank it. I can pull that cord until I'm blue in the face and can't get it started. There must be a trick to it or something. LOL, I don't know why they won't show me. You'd think that I was a chainsaw murder or something. Or maybe they're just afraid, like you said, that I'll remove some of my own body parts with it. Men are such old ladies about stuff like that! ;o)
Yeah - they're just afraid you'll hurt yourself if you knew how to start it :~)
I've talked a lot to dad about chainsaws, and the little ones in particular, but he thinks they're more dangerous than the big ones. He said at least with the heavy ones, I won't be tempted to cut over your head, which is a big no no, and you have to use two hands to operate them, so at least the hands are safe :~)
Yep. I worked in an ER too and after a bad storm that usually seemed to be the injury of choice. Falls and heart attacks too.
**grin**
The other related injury we saw was people dropping nice big 50lb sticks of newly cut firewood on their feet and breaking their toes or blowing the ends out of them. Firewood season was always good for business at the ER. ;o)
Those are the San Onofre Nuclear Powerplant containment.
They were on the beach and I mentioned on the train to my mom, they look nuclear and a guy freaked.
Hey Duchess, I was scanning the thread. Did you get the wierdo horse ad cleared up? That's very alarming.
Hey Beaker! Howz the new job going?
I reported the ad to the Cyber Fraud website Hair gave me. I also talked to the webmaster at Horseville.com and he pulled the ad. You might be right about overseas cause the address is false, there is no telephone number and the email account has been closed.
I have a horse that took a bite on me last night.
Bit me on the chest and it hurts!
