Good Morning everyone.

Scroll up and check out the pictures that AMM posted of her dogs at a training event. Very interesting.

I never did any hunting tests so it's interesting to see how it works!

When I was hunting with the dogs, Zulu was my 'springer' (better than Logan at finding them)... she was absolutely passionate about finding the birds and flushing them up. For three years, I think, I missed them all :~) I sortof wondered if I ever actually killed one if it would break her heart. "Geeze... I didn't know you were trying to kill them!" She thought it was all about the flurry and the rush and the boom and watching them fly away :~D

Of course, when we did actually hit one, then Logan could finally do something, and he did! He did well. And Zulu found it very exciting, bouncing around him when he came back with it.

This was the first bird we managed to kill, and I think the only one we managed to pose a picture of when we got home.

Seem to be okay today but starting the day with toast onbly just in case.

Bob really enjoyed the pictures and the descriptions of the dogs and what they were doing.

Good morning,

Bob still hasn't passed the kidney stones so in a good bit of pain.

Friday is doing fine, doesn't like being locked up at night so we'll just do it on and off to get her to relax a little, then when she looks like she's close, we'll keep her in at night.

Sun is shining here today, I entend to have a good day :)

Gidget had the Ultimate Dog Championships on TV, followed by America's Funniest Animals, so it's a good day for her :~D.

That is just the cutest picture! Tag team bird hunting!

Labs aren't meant to put up birds, it's not what they do best. But they CAN be trained to do it, and the whole purpose of the Upland phase of the hunt tests is to encourage people to teach their Labs to hunt properly, quartering ahead of the guns, and to flush the birds. Shelley's not ready for that, the Upland test is generally given after Finished. But she had a good time anyway!

If you can keep them close, they figure it out. Zulu would work well and stay close. Logan was just walking around peeing on things until there was a shot fired. :~)

LOL! I can just see that going on!

To get through Started and especially Seasoned, the dogs have to be at heel and under control. In Started you can use a clip lead or put a finger through their collar -- in Seasoned, the dog has to go nekkid - no collar at all. Most of us use a slip lead over their heads taking the dogs to the holding blind, but when you come out of the blind the dog has to be at heel with no leash or collar. Not easy for a high-powered Lab who wants to run around and pee on things! (even my lady Labs do a certain amount of pre-emptive peeing, being territorial. My husband calls it their pee-mail.)

That is so cute. I just got back from my Dads. He has a dog that puts his toys away when told and can open the door but has to knock when he is ready to come back in:')

Sorry to hear you aren't well. This year just seems the worst for respiratory problems.

Good. Just tired. I look forward to going to work and don't want to go home. I don't want to burn out though so I'm making myself get a life. I start back on my riding lessons Tue.

I suppose. I pay for a bunch at one time and have $ on the books. The owner and I are getting along ok, right now but I have no reason to doubt that it's just a matter of time before one of us gets mad again :')
