The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Great place to ride... what a nice facility! I’d love to be able to hose ours off at the trailhead! Leave that clay there instead of bringing it home.

Good going Blade on that slippery stuff. :~)

The trails all look steep :) and rocky and muddy.

They were steep and rocky and slippery. Probably the most intense trails I have been on thus far but it was fun and we were safe and cautious not to hurt us or the horses. The scenery was beautiful. Can't wait until Frog can go to see what she thinks.

I've got it 3/4 done... got the main yard done and watered, got the side yards done... just need to do that triangle up in the front...

Got a highline put up for TheNewBeagle too. :~)

Good job on cutting the grass.

TNB looks like he’s thinking “I didn’t think this was a Highline kinda place when I decided to crash here!”

Well, he’s gonna have to live with it until we can get the front fence small-dog proof. ;~)

We’re going to put that small horse mesh up. Been wanting to do that anyway for Homer.

Good Morning.

Farrier is coming this morning. I will check for tattoos. :) Kids hauled a couple of 4-H'ers to Columbus for the State Fair. So, I will be on horse holding duty.

I think Hair has the most interesting looking farrier so far.

Man, we’ve been a quiet bunch the last couple days! Not much horsey, or anything else, going on I guess.

Oh, Oh! I just remembered, I've got something for y'all to look at. It's a horse farm that's for sale right up the road here and it's AWESOME. Click on the first listing on the page. It's in Leighton. Make sure you look at all the pictures and also click on the virtual tour. I'd LOVE to have it just for the Morton barns, but the house is really nice too. It's just a LITTLE bit outta my budget though at 1.7 million. ;o)

Well, I hope to have something horsey this weekend. We’ll be ~hopefully~ going for a ride, if even a short one. It’s been a month.

Farrier is coming this morning.

ine came last night. Re-shod Jake and Blade and trimmed old Queen. He said she has the best feet of them all at 26! All set for more trail riding, hopefully it wont rain on us again.

Yeah, but even with the acreage, it’s really out of line with what most property goes for around here. They must be trying to attract a buyer from somewhere else where the property values are much higher. All the other listings on that page were the same way too. I could see it going for a million, but 1.7 was a bit much.

I am not sure I could get $1.7 million for my soul!
