The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well, we're back from town... We went to the Basset lady's house (at least we found a place with three Bassets in the yard and a Basset Crossing sign)

She wasn't home then so we left a note. Well, she just called. I guess he dug out from there. He is up for adoption... Barkley.

She asked us if we'd want to foster him for her since he really hates it at her house with the dogs she has there... One dog in particular won't leave him alone. Aw Geeeze... She's bringing over his thyroid medication in a little bit.

Oh dear. Looks like you got yourself a beagle! The Butt Sitters Up club? What is that? (It was in his profile on petfinder.com)

I think he’ll sit up and beg for treats. We haven’t tried that yet. ;~)

Not sure why they are previewing the posts. Sometimes the refresh rates on here are slow too. Could be that, and not because you are new.

Sitting up for treats is not a good habit. Drives me nuts. So are you “foster parents” now, or have you found that welcome sign yet. :-)

You know what... I think I know what’s happening... The auto preview click to post is just for proof reading. It displays it as it will look. If you either hit post again or click the “I do not wish to preview this post” it’ll just post it as is. I don’t think they’re monitoring you... I think it’s just confusing the way it reads. Try it again.

We’re ‘foster parents’. She’s going to come by within a week and have him vetted. She hasn’t done that yet, and he needs that to refill his thyroid med.

I said OK - well, if we want, can we just call you and say to go ahead and pull the ad down for him? She said “yes”.

“Sent for review” - huh. I’m unfamiliar with that. I really didn’t know they were doing that, if they are.

LOL - and now I'm giggling :) That's good, my teeth hurt and my wrist hurts so I needed the giggle.

I have never hear of chocolate chocolate sauce but it sounds good. If you find the recipe let me know.

Oh man, I’m sorry - another homeless (more or less) dog. Probably need to buy another leash.

Oh I don’t know. ;~)

He itches like Homer, has collapsing sinus fits like Gidget, likes to lay with his back legs straight out behind him like Tweek, and honks like a trombone player when he wants something. None of them are a rose garden. ;~)

I haven’t been online much and just now read your post. I am so sorry to hear about Tuffy, but I am sure you did the right thing for him. I know how hard it is as I have been where you are myself.

If you want to talk, I will be here.

He had a pretty uneventful night :~)

We’re still a little aloof about each other, still not sure about this whole thing, but he’s not hard to be around. :~)

Well, shoer came today... Bay had a bit of thrush this time, in his white line. So I took it as a good excuse to take some pictures that might capture the tattoo for frog :~)

Not sure what more to do about this.. None of them have ever had any thrush... He put some kind of medicine on it here that's making it look worse than it is, because it's wet. Any ideas on how to treat it, or if I need to treat it from here on out? I can't get in there very easily with the shoe on.
