The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

He is a metallic chocolate palomino. Very striking color.

Very striking mane... look at those bangs ;~) He looks like a rock star.

OK - well he did well then against more finished horses. I can’t tell for sure, but it looks like the other two horses in the lineup are in a full bit and one handed.

The picture doesn’t do him justice, I think I took one more so I’ll have to look for it. His body looked metallic and his mane and tail looked silver.

A better picture of him.

Rock star is a good description. And it was difficult to see past the color and the mane. He would be just an average horse, maybe a little heavy for a Morgan, without all that :) No one will ever call him average though.

Well, sometimes you just need that one eye catching feature. For Tuffy, it’s his blanket. For MorganBoy there, it’s those bangs :~)

Well, the metallic color helps a bit too :)

You have to see who I just spotted in the background of some horse show pictures on the horse forum!

Pegasus and I at our first show!

No, I don’t know her at all but I’ve seen her picture of course, and pictures of Peg.

Well, maybe you can get together or at least say hello at the next show. :~)

Well, I’m off to bed. Just waited up to see if you were still up to see that.

...My trainer sprung something on me today- she wants me to buy Levi if she has to sell him when she moves...

Wow, that sounds like a great idea! He's absolutely gorgeous, he likes you, you like him, what more could you ask for?! I'd go for it, and maybe she'll make you a good deal on him or let you lease-to-own or something.

...So - the tooth thing was catching...I have a badly abcessed tooth that I am now being refered to another dentist for - apparently a root canal...

Dang! Y'all stay away from me! ;o) I sure hope he gets that thing fixed up for ya today.

My only criticism though is that the fake tail has got to go.

But everyone has a fake tail! It is the IN thing. He looks good and congrats on the placings. Not bad for a first show and the main thing, he was a good boy. It is nice to hear, that a judge is noticing the too low head set. A lot of the judges still are placing "peanut pushers". The head is suppose to be level with the withers. He sure shows some promise, to make an outstanding pleasure horse.

Alison did win hi-point under one of the judges yesterday. The biggest accomplishment was her winning English Equitation. She has been working hard at home on that.

Gorgeous daisies Hair! They ARE huge. I love that old boat planter there. I remember seeing it in your wedding pictures and thought it was such a cool idea. A lot of people around here use old wheel barrows for that purpose and I really like them too. It's a great use for something that would otherwise get thrown away.

But I have to draw the line at toilet bowl planters. That's just a little TOO much recycling. ;o)

There’s a house up the road that has an old headboard and bedframe as a planter.

As if enough people didn’t get the joke, they have a sign by it that says “flower bed” :~)

I love the pictures of Tuffy! My favorite is the 6th one down, where he’s cantering. His headset looks a bit low to me too and he does look a little behind the bit, but physically he’s GORGEOUS. You can fix the little things like headset, but confirmation is forever. So I wouldn’t sweat the small stuff. I agree with you though, that fake tail is really strange looking.
