The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Those are gorgeous daisies - they obviously love the soil and weather there.

It is the last one, and so far it’s very intense.

I decided that unless the second dentist has compelling reasons for saving this tooth, I’m calling a third dentist :) who I know and ask that it be pulled and a new bridge be made. This is the third time I’ve gone through this with this particular tooth.

I’m going to have to snag a copy (probably from my niece) and read it :)

Beaker, that’s great about the saddle:). We need some pictures.

Hair the daisy’s are really pretty. I finally dug one bunch of mine up, with all the rain they had collapsed anyway and were laying all over some of the other flowers. I then cut the remaining ones back. It looks like they are starting to put out some new buds. Thanks for the picture.

Duchess, sorry about the tooth. Hope it gets taken care of this time.

Becky

I have three people in line to read the book after me. :-p One person had asked before I even got the book.

I’m bringing the saddle home from the barn today, so I’ll get pictures. Been browsing the tack catolog, think I might be all snooty and get a monogrammed saddle pad for shows. :-)

LOL...Beaker, somehow I can't imagine you as snooty, I think you'd really have to work at it:).

It's so much fun buying new tack. Too bad it's all so expensive, or I'd buy a lot more.

LOL Buying a monogrammed saddle pad is about as snooty as I could get. I thought about buying stirrups with those CZs in them as a goof but the though of actually riding in them made feel kinda nauseous.

I’ve seen them on spurs, too.

Good morning everyone!

Good Morning.

Congrats on the new saddle purchase! Now you need a horse. Just so happens that I have a nice Appaloosa gelding, that would make a perfect English horse.. :)

Those daises are beautiful, Hair. I noticed a lot of them in bloom around here. I like the beach house too. Looks like a really cool place.

Horse show today, but I don't know if I will go. It's my B'day and that doesn't seem like the place to celebrate.

Cubic zirconia (sp?) - The little fake diamonds...

Blingy Spur & Stirrup Set - SmartPakEquine

English showing has always been very traditional and very few sparkly things have been allowed, compared to Western anyway... But I've heard that some English riders are adding these little gems to stirrups, spurs, and the browband on bridles.

Have a good ride! It’s raining here again. It’s really uncanny. Now I know what you felt like last week. I mean... a day or two of rain, we appreciated very much! But enough is enough... this is like May.

Hope you have a very Happy Birthday :)

I'd buy Bodie in a heartbeat IF 1) I didn't already have more horses than I can feed and 2) he weren't so far away. I love his looks and his eye :)

:) Amazing how something like the latest Harry Potter brings people around isn't it :)

Go with the monogramed saddle pad. (P.S. - I like the bling on the stirrups too)
