The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Sometimes, if the “toy” just sits there and doesn’t move, it loses it’s appeal and the cat will just walk off and leave it. I’ve seen that happen before. But if it moves so much as one hair, it gets pounced on or flipped up in the air and then stomped on and raked with the back feet. :-/

Here's the pictures of the little colt.

He sure has some long pasterns.

He sure does have long pasterns! I’ve seen that a lot in foals though, I think they grow into them. He’s cute!

Boy, that baby has long everything. Long pasterns, long legs, even a long neck. Heh he looks a little bit like a giraffe but he’s adorable and will of course grow into it all. I think he must have been a supermodel in a former life. ;-)

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Cute foal, Becky. Good luck with the farm sitting.

We had a nice rain yesterday. That should make the farmers happy.

Awwww, he’s cute! He looks like a gaited horse colt with those long legs and high-set neck, and he’d REALLY be fancy if he had high-white socks on the front to match the ones on the back. I’ll bet he’ll be a real looker when he grows up.

Heh, that’s a great comparison! Shelly looks like she’s having LOADS more fun though. I’ll bet she could probably beat a horse at barrels if she really wanted to, or more accurately, if YOU wanted her to. Shesagoodgirl!

Good morning:)

Just back from feeding, the move went fine today:)

He is an Arab, and Debbie told me the owners want her to show him at halter.

“I’ll get to ride in the morning again, JP won’t be coming to play:(, he put a coffee bean up his nose”

Have you been letting him listen to Cheech and Chong?

LOL...do they put coffee beans up their noses?

I’m sitting here waiting on Kristy to call to see how the extraction went. Hopefully we’ll hear before it gets to hot to ride.

Cheech and Chong have a skit called “Up His Nose,” it’s about a little boy that sticks everything up his nose.

Think spanish accent:

“Everything he steeks up his nose. Everything up his nose it goes. First he started out small, a piece of rice, a bean, a jujube. Then he got beeger and beeger, a walnut, a peanut. Then he started on change, first it was a penny, a quarter, a half dollar.”

Doctor makes a joke. Dad replies, “jokes I don’t need, what I need is a leetle boy that don’t stick everything up his nose. Trains and boats and planes up his nose.” The story goes on how the father hears a noise outside so he goes looking for his gun but can’t find the bullets. “Where are the bullets I’m asking myself. Where else?? Up his nose!”

Here is a clip. I got the quote nearly right.

I was wrong on the accent. Ain’t spanish.
