First check in of the day. My neck seems weak this morning. I'm not sure what that is all about.
To: Iowa Granny
Maybe it's the weather. I hope it gets better.
I am going to get out the boxes and start on the tree. It was a really pretty one this year, and I hate to take it down, but if I don't do it today I won't have my husband to help me, so off I go!

GOOD A.M. TO YOU CHAIR, ALL, FROM THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA, BRUISED BUT NOT BROKEN.
HAPPY NEW YEAR CHAIR, ALL! Don't forget, for luck this year you MUST have a portion of black eye peas, WITHOUT FAIL!!
Guess I am like most, glued to the ball games yesterday. how bout them Colts! And TiKi (giants), sure hate to see him hang it up but the body can take only so much. On the media field, where do you think he will end up....all sports or something else.
All the neighborhood kids (and most of the families) came over for the fireworks, it was a blast, the kids had a great time and us older folks chopped on goodies, all kinds of goodies, so much for my diet but was advised when I went over to the 'big house' I was back on it, allowed my grits with no butter. UGH, like eating a steak with no steak!
Going over to a neighbors house this week and disk him a roping arena in this back yard, he puts a show on for the kids roping steers and even has some of the older ones learning how to rope. Allie wants to but still a bit young for that.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to each this day and may God protect you and bless you this new year.

Happy new year!

I was also struck by the Ford "kids" greeting and thanking those who came to the Rotunda to pay respects to their dad. Politically, I am more in line with Reagan, but his family is the absolute pits, whereas the Fords are a REAL American family.

The decorations are off the tree and stored in totes. Now I need to go lug the big Tree Bag up out of the basement.
There is no one here willing to help me. I will prove I can do it by myself.

I turned the news off quite early this morning, so I missed the report about the Ford Kids standing and thanking those who came to pay their respects.
The 'kids' are probably 60ish, and they were raised by parents who taught them to show their appreciation when someone does you a kindness. We really shouldn't be surprised at this gesture, but the contrast with those on the other side of the isle is so great, that we take notice.
To: M Kehoe
Wishing you a Happy New Year, may God heap the blessings on you and your family.

a few years ago we went to the Yorktown Day festivities, as Americana as it gets but nowhere near as grand as the Rose Bowl parade ... and out of nowhere there was a USN flyover .. just knocked my sox off!

Ed this was a stealth plane and two fighter right behind it.
After they flew over, they left a contrail over the parade line.
I wonder how low they got.

Actually I was kind of surprised they flew that low over the parade. Sure glad they knew what they were doing.
