Cardhu, some things are easy to do. The MacAfee anti-virus guru is my son-in-law and the other IT professional is my daughter. The kids love to make a few hundred dollars putting together computer systems. He does it all the time. I simply went over to the Apple store and wrote down the specifications of a low-end computer, and he cheerily went and bought all the parts, mostly on sale, at a PC parts store by the University. He brought over a beautiful, little black box and plugged it into the dual monitors, and it all came up. We have 10 Mbps optical fiber to the house, so we can suck down a full length feature movie in about five minutes. We have about a terabyte of storage on line here. I reciprocated the favor by buying her Beamer a new set of tires, new brakes, some front-end work and an alignment, so we all went out to lunch today to celebrate.
Wow Doggy you have chasten me and brought on a great depression. - 10mbps optical fiber to the house. In my dreams - in this little place I am limited to 1mbps and a promise of 3mbps in April, which I will believe when it happens. The drawbacks of living in the boonies.
Thank goodness I am not into downloading movies. But what makes it even worse, my brother in law spend two hours a day stealing my wireless connection to talk via Skype to my daughter in Los Angles so my speed drops significantly at that time.
They did a survey along my Avenue for cable but did not get enough subscribers to make it worth while for them to install it the apartments here are now too expensive for the locals so we have absentee owners who are not interested in year-round cable.
So I will just muddle through with my pathetic ADSL. But I do have dual Monitors :)
