I'm crossing my fingers for you, BQ. Those trees would be pretty hard to replace, wouldn't they?

Yes, very hard. I would not want to start all over again, trying to get citrus to grow here, but I was so grateful to inherit them when I bought the house. I wouldn't mind if the date palms died... not a fan of palm trees in my yard, but of course those things are atomic proof.

I think the hardest thing would be to pay to have the stumps removed. I'm glad all our junipers and cedars are hardy and not wilted.

I even had one lavender - I bought it at Target about 8 years ago when I bought the house. It was in a tiny gallon container. It burgeoned into a gigantic and gorgeous bush - several feet wide and high, and growing in the ground in the blazing sun! Doesn't even require much water. Well, sadly it didn't look too good today either! Son of a gun.
