"It might be easier to just make the doorways bigger ..." Been there, done that.
When it came time to update our bathroom, my wife wanted a different tub/shower unit. But the one we had had gone in when the bathroom was built.
I took out two ceiling joists, hoisted the tub/shower unit into our attic, and lowered a new unit into place. Then I put the ceiling joists and the ceiling back in.
