I don't think it's fear. It's a disconnect.

If you lose track of a friend, and years go by, you're okay with that, because you think of them as they were.

If, one day, you learn that something terrible has happened to this person, you feel badly about it, even though you are no less removed from them at that point. The potential was there.

You could have met again. You could have gotten back in touch. There was a possibility of hope. Now that hope is gone.

Our internet connection is now a ray of sunshine and hope into the dark dungeons that fate puts all of us in. The silent chamber of our imprisoning skull.

Messages from beyond give us hope.

I agree, but differently. It's touching base again with the folks here (Monkey Face, where are you?), a very few of whom I've met face-to-face, most not, most I'd like to -- but if I get a job-with-no-travel it won't be likely.

But losing touch and then learning they're gone... well, that is sad for those of us left behind. I went through that just last month.

If it's passing on you mean, I am looking forward to and praying for a bright eternity -- relying heavily on Christ's mercy to cover my many failings in striving to be perfect and deserving of Heaven. I just hope being the Undead Thread pinger won't be counted amongst my many failings. *\;-)
