At work it was mostly slush coming down, but here it is definitely snow, and it is sticking, albeit a bit wet.

Got to go away a bit -- our legislature is in session as of today, and though I read and wrote letters on three bad bills yesterday (LoM delivered them this afternoon), I'd flagged a fourth.

Yah. And just when I needed it to work. I'd flagged two more bills for attention, and need to get letters written ASAP because I fly out Wednesday for my winter week chock full o' meetings.

Of course, with snow like this we might lose power, though the cellphone and laptop are charged.

This could be bad. Wind coming in slightly north of west (it's usually SW) which has pushed the "convergence zone" (weather coming around the Olympics, the CZ gets most of the precipitation around here) straight down over us.

We now have a whole half-inch of snow. Almost enough to cause major problems, sufficient if it freezes beneath it.

I could do that, pretty much. The snow is forecast to continue on&off until 3 AM and in the "convergence zone" anything is possible. We could get nothing or we could be heavily socked in.

But I'm supposed to get a hepatitus booster (2nd of 3, A&B?) tomorrow morning prior to the India trip. But then again, at 5:30 PM there's a teleconference (Redmond WA + Shanghai + Bangalore) where we'll decide if I'm going to India next month after all. My American boss agrees, if I'm going I need to book my flights ASAP. I'll be sad if I'm not going, but I won't miss the many hours in airplane steerage class.

Letters to the legislature -- yes, we have e-mailed them upon occasion. But it is far better to deliver paper copies in person. Right now my goal is to prevent bills from being heard, but if that slides past and they come up for hearings I can still address the committees.

So what are things like there right now?

Rain to the south of us, snow in the mountains to the north and west.

Here it’s just seasonably cold. In January that’s cold enough.

By the weekend, we will have seen some snow, and it will be cold for real. The January thaw is over.
