The way that ULCA shut down USC, I have to wonder about this FSU team. Bobby probably should consider getting some sports psychology coaches on board...or changing them up too, if he's got 'em.
That said, it was a VERY exciting game, and UCLA did play well for 3 quarters.
And Jeff did the OC'ing. I was wondering if they were going to give someone else a try tonight...A coworker (an FSU grad) postulated that if someone on staff was coordinating it would be a tryout, but if BB was making the calls, they'd hire outside. Now we just have to wait and see.
That performance does give some hope for next year.
"0-3 for the Pac 10 so far this bowl season. Perhaps they aren't the power conference some have asserted."
The primary reason the Pac-10 has been rated among the top conferences this year is that they have more non-conference wins against solid opponents than anyone else does. Certainly a heckuva lot more than your conference does. The very fact that you think teams like Oregon and Arizona State (both of whom went 4-5 in the Pac-10) should have beaten 11-2 BYU or 11-3 Hawaii is evidence that you yourself rate the conference strong. One of BYU's losses this year was to a Pac-10 also-ran, Arizona, who held them to 13 points. Hawaii's only loss at home this year was to the Pac-10's Oregon State. When a 5-3/8-4 Big Ten team went to Hawaii, Hawaii put up 42 on them and sent them home with a loss. When one of your middle-level Big Ten teams played Cal earlier this year, Cal beat Minnesota 42-17. When on the same weekend, 4 Big 12 teams played 4 Pac-10 teams, the Pac-10 won all four games. Utah was a solid team and a bowl game winner this year, but they were UCLA's easiest win on the schedule this year.
You want overrated? USC routed Notre Dame and Notre Dame needed a last minute miracle to beat UCLA. But when #19(!?) Penn State played Notre Dame, they got pounded by the Irish in a game that was no contest. #19? That's overrated. USC routed an SEC finalist Arkansas and a Big 12 finalist Nebraska. Three different Pac-10 teams have beaten Oklahoma over the past three years. So when people like Sagarin rate the conferences, this type of information determines rankings. And frankly, if you go down the Big 10 list of non-conference accomplishments this year, you'll find nothing close to what the Pac-10 has done. At least the Pac-10 plays somebody. Your league did not.
Any pinging today?

How 'bout them Cowboys??!?!?!!??!!
Gundy keeps job for another couple of years...
No excuses!!
Anyways you missed the best bowl game of the season(so far) when OSU beat Ala.
I'm a dyed in the wool Alabama fan, but that was a great game.
Cal is thrashing the Aggies right now. Must be embarassing for Aggie fns to lose to a team from the worst (major) conference in NCAA football - the PAC 10.
Of course, USC is a notable exception to PAC 10 mediocrity and will shine in any conference they plays in.
....LOL......would be nice if you actually gave Cal credit for beating the crap out of them instead of insulting the conference....
