All that they lack now is the Fat Lady to sing the aria. Chicago's now 7:3, Detroit's mired in last place, which is where they'll probably finish, currently 3:7, with two losses to Chicago (in less than two weeks). In the NFC it generally takes 10:6 to gain a wild card berth, and there's no way to reach that now. The new coach doesn't have what it takes -- apparently they went for a 2 point conversion and didn't have a one point lead after the Prater 4th q field goal, which only tied it. Two interceptions later and they're done, and their season is done.

I only watched the last 8 or 9 minutes of the game, just in time to see Prater tie up the game, and hearing one of the two third-rate announcers mention how Patricia had had them go for the two point conversion, that otherwise they’d have the lead.

I’d wondered why Trubisky wasn’t playing — when that string bean doofus started with the Bears, it was hard not to see that he was going to become one of the better QBs. They brought him along slow, now he’s poised and confident and can use that freakin’ arm. Great coaching there, but ultimately ya can’t coach ‘em to be tall enough and to throw with that kind of strength.

This would be a big bump in their road to winning the Black and Blue division, if the problem is serious. Of the four teams in the division, seriously, they’re the only ones who won’t embarrass themselves in the playoffs. Cousins is playing half-assed in Minnesota, after another decent start to the season.

Trubisky is officially inactive and will sit out due to a shoulder injury he sustained in Week 11’s win over the Vikings.
