yates has mental issues which had nothing to do with the normalcy of her children. Their marriage is a red herring to the issue since it was not defective by design.

Anecdotes are irrelevant.

Homosexuals rasing children is scientifically and socially a proven perscription for disaster to the child and society.

Pretend families, chumley. It's all the same equation.

Time for us working types to sign-off.

Enjoy your time as a pro-homo cheerleader here on Free Republic.

"Homosexuals rasing children is scientifically and socially a proven perscription for disaster to the child and society."

Unless it's the daughter of a beloved political icon, then it's excused.

It's not a debate, it's a poll.

So tell us, if a child, any child, regardless of it's parents or who they are, is being beaten, or is in some other precarious situation that you know about........is it nobody's business to stop it? Since it is going on in their own "private home" is it their business?

When ANY harm is being brought to any child, it is everyones business. Where children are concerned, it is society's responsibility to ensure that child is not harmed, even emotionally.

The fact you have to troll out a question like this only proves she is not getting a free pass no matter how much the DBM tries to massage it.

Not really. The thread author admitted to debating those who say yes.

so are homes in which both parents are drug addicts. and I could list a whole range of other criteria that make for your "scientifically proven" as being bad for children test. what do we do? do we have a litmus test for pregnancy regarding all these criteria regarding the parents?

And my opinion is it's nobody's business but hers.

We're not talking about Cocker Spaniels here. I suppose your position is consistent enough that, should she choose to abort, that is only her business as well?

here children are concerned, it is society's responsibility to ensure that child is not harmed, even emotionally.

You have just typed the mantra of the nanny state.

Would you support a law that limits reproduction to married heterosexual couples only?

Mary Cheney's pregnancy is the parakeet keeling over in observing a shift in the morals of forum posters here. I'm just wanting to quantify it, got out of hand a bit, but I can make the assumption that you're in the "yes" category.

Not a problem, take no offence, you're just a number for my purpose.

Being rediculous, and resorting to theatric/over dramtics, is not what the thread was posted for.

It is an opinion poll, not a debate.

The real crux of this whole damn issue is not homosexuality. It is whether the government should/should not interfere in reproductive rights.

Whatever one's views on homosexual/lesbian couples having children, or Mary Cheney's pregnancy in particular, taking that position based on how it affects the Republican Party is repugnant to this Republican.

One either believes in it or not, as with all the other sensitive social/moral issues. Republicans would probably win every election till the end of time if they gave up the party's abortion position. But I'd rather vote for a party that stood for something, popular or not with independents.

With the exception of this past Fall's election, which had precious little to do with social/moral issues, the Republicans have done damned well in elections for the past two decades, so I'd suggest they take principled positions and not only stick with them but articulate them clearly.
