MARYVILLE — Four men face a court hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court this afternoon after officers acting on a citizen complaint raided a Maryville residence and found cash and marijuana hidden inside a statue of Jesus.

Luis Eduardo Rodriguez, 31, Orlando Garcia, 29, and Christobol Mancilla Cardona, 38, all of Monterrey, Mexico, are charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following their arrests Nov. 30, Immigration Customs Enforcement placed a hold on the trio for deportation.

According to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, agents with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force converged on the men’s residence after citizen complaints about drug activity and intelligence gained through investigation.

A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of about 15 pounds of marijuana and $7,000 in American currency hidden inside a statue of Jesus.

During the search activity, Jamie Rocky Webb, 25 of Maryville, came to the residence allegedly to purchase some marijuana. He, too, was arrested and charged with attempting to posses a controlled substance for resale.

All four face a hearing at 1:30 p.m. to day in Judge Mike Gallegos’ courtroom.
