Just hypothesizing here, but it does seem like the driver was not a fine upstanding member of society, if you know what I mean. Where I work, we have a REAL problem with these drug dealer goons coming down from Columbus - drive by shootings, etc. I hope they catch who did it & he gets the proper punishment.
Still though, I would never have done something like those boys did when I was younger, (A) because my parents made a point to teach me early on not to trespass or vandalise other people's property and (B) because my parents would not have let me run around with other kids that did.
It still boils down to parents making sure their kids behave themselves. In the end, it was the kid's actions that prompted what happened to him and ultimately, caused the reaction that ended his life. Sad and tragic no matter how you look at it. However, I believe a 14 year old is old enough to know right from wrong - sounds like this kid was heading in the wrong direction and probably would have been a larger problem on society sometime in the future when he became an adult.
"...I believe a 14 year old is old enough to know right from wrong ..."
Knowing it's wrong is a far cry from knowing how seriously wrong it is, and I doubt that he really understood that throwing an egg at a car could have such drastic consequences. We can't know one way or another, we don't (and never will) know him.
"...this kid was heading in the wrong direction and probably would have been a larger problem on society sometime..."
Or not. It's pure speculation. Lots and lots of 14 year olds get into minor scrapes, then grow up to be perfectly responsible adults. Maybe all those who support killing this kid know they were never bad boys or girls at this age; or maybe they're just forgetful. Or hypocrites.
