Well, my Friend, good to hear from you.
Here's what I think, you have a bird in the hand with the Indian, I say go with that.
You have quit the job and will finish up soon enough. Do the India thing, you will have time to time things out more clearly about going to the other Asian countries - and may very well decide not to do that, but come home to the USA for a real change of pace.
I think you have had it with their tactics, and need a good offering of honesty in the work place.
Ultimately the decision is yours to make, but you need to feel right about your job and your life. You have to fit in your skin.
Sorry this has not worked out for you. Something will fall into place for you. Do what is in front of you. All the answers are in you, living life with reveal them to you.

Thanks for the excellent commentary Soaring. Yes, it looks like India is in the cards. In fact, more than just in the cards, the Greek I'm working with also lived in India, and Sri Lanka too (the safe parts!), and he was giving me all kinds of info regarding that area too.
So I think I'll take your advice and go to India. I haven't actually quit the job just yet, Chinese (that is culturally pure breed Chinese) will steal anything they can get their hands on. They also seem to have this idea that money that you've already earned is in no way "yours", rather, whoever is holding the physical bills is the true "owner" of that money, hours you might have worked are just some sort of unrelated affair to negotiate, but the money is not "yours" unless you're holding it! Therefore you must wait until they hand you the cash, then announce you've quit. It's trashy by our standards, but if ever you let them hold the paper then start exit negotiations from that weak vantage point, well, you'll never make that mistake again!
Yes, I'm just disappointed in these Chinese, they do have discipline, and they value education (but for them, that largely just means repeating what you just said to them, not what we would consider education), but their real failing is this grotesque emotional slaughter house they've cobbled together for themselves.
That bizarre woman manager's reaction is just so contrary to even her own interests. I must admit, I never suspected it was a trick to just say trashy and completely uncalled for, and perfectly measured, put downs using everything she's learned about me over the last six weeks. And the reason I never suspected that is because such an action would SERVE NO USEFUL PURPOSE WHATSOEVER FOR ANYONE!!!
And yet, that's what it was, it's like, because I wouldn't expect someone to launch an attack against a proven human resource who the customers have shown they liked, and is in an environment where it's darn hard to find such resources (that is, an American instructor for business English who will actually live in this dump), because I wouldn't expect her to attack her own interests like that and do it provocatively at my expense, so therefore, that's the only reason she did do it.
I will say in their defense, changing jobs and moving around was absolutely forbidden historically, and is still heavily taboo, plus they just don't have the personal skills yet to swing such actions, so there's this heavy belief that you'll just stay here no matter what they do to you. While for us, of course, we're keeping a careful accounting (a cumulative accounting, that is) of all the BS, and we'll just bolt when the pressure gage hits the accepted limit.
Oh well, something tells me that because I could have lived here with little effort for a number of years, that's why I shouldn't stay here. Life is about growth, after all, and I think you're right, I'm tired of their tactics, also I can see that they are all self destructive tactics, and stupid and low class by any measure.
