Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
we do okay...
Gunner may actually survive tuh adulthood... if'n I don't kill him first...
You are going to have an electrician out to wire your box right before the next adventure, right? :~)
That's the thing with pups. :~)
don't needtuh... but I'm gonna look intuh options... that werked VEY well, and was very efficient fer the generator...
Welcome back bro'.
Good to talk to you the other day. Don't wait for another global warming threat to call again...
I hear yuh...
you house was amazingly quiet when I called... is everyone there still alive?...
mostly...
G'nad and Mrsnad - great pics, the family one at the downed tree is a keeper for sure. Nice wiring job there, G'nad. Generators are a good thing.
G'nad, great picture of Gunner, that's a classic lab pose.
Adulthood, well, that kinda sort starts to set in at about 6 years of age or so.
OK - as long as you think it's safe.... I seem to recall headlines about someone doing that, and it wasn't good news!
Thanks for the *great pics* and narrative! Storms like that become the stuff of family legend.
We are missing one of the kittens (well ok, she not really a kitten any more, but you know what I mean). Shebob is a roamer...loves to go out "hunting". She left 3 nights ago and we haven't seen her since. Brindle on the other hand, hangs out down by the house all the time. I know you've had cats gone for long periods of time, but I don't have a good feeling about it. Thegirl is sad...I had a dream last night that she came back and brought 6 of her cat friends. :-)
Mrsnad
Another, less expensive, specialized light is make by Pak-Lite. It's so minimalist, it might get lost. As a plus, it would be a good item for an emergency kit.
It's biggest advantage is that it comes with LEDs in all sorts of colors, including infrared. In fact, you can get the light in two different IR wavelengths, with and without a strobe function. For CSI fans, you can also get it in ultraviolet, so you can do your own forensic studies.
At about $29, it can be used as a short-range IR illuminator, or the strobe version can be stuck behind the helmet camo band, and used for IFF purposes.
Aww yes, I have had them disappear for awhile and return (Cartman was gone two months once!) but I always worry. I hope for the best.
ain't technology grand?...
mrsnad and the kids got a little LED head lamp thingie from Cabela's... three white LEDS powered by 2 CR-2032 batts... I thought it was a little hokie at first, but it's proved to be handy...
one weakness, in cold temps, the lite fades tuh nuthin' in about minute... put it in your pocket fer a few, and it werks fine again...
hope so... thekidz were hardly phased...
Actually, that's the MP44 configuruation. It was called Maschinenpistole to keep the project below Hitler's radar. For Hitler, bolt action=good, semiauto=bad, machinepistol=okay.
When rave reviews kept coming back from the Russian front, Hitler finally asked to see a "MP44". He reversed himself, and declared it the best thing since sliced pumpernickel. He also coined the term, "sturmgewehr", which literally translates to "assault rifle". The weapon, with slight changes in furniture, was blessed with the designation "StG45".
As with all good ideas, Hitler made sure it was too little, too late. But it made quite an impression on the Russians.
Dang, that's a good lookin' dog!
Handsome family, too...but you knew that. ;-)
And all that ice is so pretty, in spite of the downsides. Easy fer me to say...
Glad you all came through it OK! Definitely a storm to remember...
That's not good. Possible she's holed up somewhere...but having lived in a place almost as out of the way as where you are, I've seen my share of cats disappear.
Still...I hope she turns up!
hey, I didn't click the link... ;o)
I always mix up the STG and MP configs... and it was a knee jerk reaction...
a buddy of mine has a real STG... his dad took it off'n a dead SS Grenadier... still in great condition... and completely off'n the grid...
it also made a helluva'n impression on the GIs and Tommies that faced it in Holland, Belgium, and der Fatherland...
