WELCOME RACE FANS

Welcome to the offseason withdrawal thread which is here for everyone to post racing news during the time between Nov 20, 2006 and Feb 10, 2007 when The Budweiser Shootout begins the new season.

As always this thread is dedicated to our military men and women serving our country. A big thank you to all of them. Hugs and prayers to those who have been wounded and are recuperating at Walter Reed, Bethesda and Brooke Army Med Center. And, to those combat field medics who care for them - THANK YOU!!

First time I've seen the real deal, not bad.

Wow, that was some whack the Biff took. No wonder Shrub had to help him get out, "I woke up on the backstretch.."

Hope they can find out what caused the tire to blow.

I'm pizzed at DJ. He delivered a package the other evening and not only was it broken but when he left he destroyed about 25 feet of lawn when he missed the driveway...

Can't blame DJ for the broken stuff, he's got enough seniority so that he doesn't have to load the trucks anymore.

As for the lawn, on the Toyota version of the UPS trucks the steering is "different." - left is really right and right is really left.

Something probably happened in the translation, just working the bugs out, I'm sure.

Hey, have you ever done a grandstand race?

I'm looking at ticks for the march race and I can't decide if I should pick up the ones in red section of turn 4 or in the Earnhart terrace any suggestions?

thanks

PRB, by all means get tickets in the Earnhardt or Petty sections. A bit more $$ wise (but not bad) but worth every penny.

First off, the map you see when you look at ticket sales is out of date.

Call up that map and follow me, for a minute, if you will...

For 3 years we had tickets in the Earnhardt section - just a bit to the left of the "T" in Terrace. Great seats, looking into the axis of Turn 4 and right down pit road.

I changed to the Richard Petty section this year - below the ending "e" in Terrace, about half way down / up.

What this map is not showing is the new track configuration. On the map, locate where it says "Grandstand Section 2" - put your mouse pointer at the end of the "2" - and slide to the right (in a straight line) until you hit the track, then drop down about an 1/8", that is the new entrance to pit road, which is now curved to follow the bow in the "D".

I went there for the Truck race this past Sept, just to let you know that this was a real "eye ball" recon report.

When they added the banking, they hosed a lot of viewing from the "Red" seats you are talking about. Not sure how to describe this: this is the new track banking angle - "/" - a lot of red seating is now right at the top of the / because of how high they had to raise the right side of the track for the increase in banking. Make sense?

Like I said, get seats in either the Petty or Earnhardt sections, higher is better. The view from the Earnhardt section was nothing short of awesome - looking straight into the Las Vegas valley (the lights of down town), almost in parallel with the right runway of Nellis AFB (if you are here on Friday or Saturday, you get two shows for the price of one - Nascar and what ever Nellis is doing.)

And, those seats are stadium style seats - a real seat, back rest, arm rests, beer holders on the back of the seats in front of you... :)......it don't get no better!

My cost for Mar next year (for me and the boy) was real close to $1,000...broken down as follows.....

Tickets: Friday Qual, $20 ea - x2, Saturday - Busch Race, $83 x2, Sunday - Cup Race, $180 x2. Plus 2 passes to the Interactive Fan area - $150 ea, x2. My boy is not old enough to go in the gargage area (another option), but the new "Fan Interactive" option is your are on top of the garage, looking down at the teams doing their thing. Plus, 2 preferred parking tickets @ $50 each. Going with a buddy & wife, need space to bbq - 3 spaces. Dedicated lane off property to I-15. I've done this for 3 years. Last year there were 160,000 people here - took me less than an hour to get home. Well worth the $50.

Last year we bought the "Pre-Race On Track" ticket for $75 each (same price this year) - you are "right there" for the driver introductions. I know ya don't like him, but when I yelled, "Hey, DJ, good luck!", he looked right at me and gave me the thumbs up. You were that close to all the drivers. The crowd was packed in tight by that time and the boy could not see sh!t. No problem. I'm 6'6", on the shoulders we go....talk about a kid in 7th heaven!

Hope this helps. If you do get tickets, by all means I'd like to at least try for an "eye ball" meet and greet. The place will be packed, of course, but I can work that out.

The outside box was intact, she uses clear tape, this one had brown. Her other present will be no surprise since the company called to confirm the shipping address.

Good deal. Since it was still in Ft. Worth, it should let WCG off the hook.

My son just called and said he won one of these from one of his major suppliers. He said it comes with a winch and other accessories. He said if I pay all the taxes and garage it I can use it. I told him I get half or he can pay the taxes. We are partners in a old Honda 4X4 350 which we will sell.

He is such a nice boy... :)))

Longtime NASCAR television analyst Benny Parsons is dealing with a complication stemming from his battle with cancer earlier this year.

Parsons, who still managed to call races on TNT and NBC during his treatments this year, missed NASCAR’s postseason activities in New York City after having breathing difficulty.

His doctors performed a scan of Parson’s entire body and found no cancer. However, the original tumor found in his left lung was large and the radiation used to treat it was so extensive that the lung is now damaged and not functioning properly.
