The real irony with the libertarians is they are exempt from their stupidity. They're in party mode for now but reality will eventually sink in...once their DNC friends have had a chance to turn the economy around, repeal the tax cuts, bring the war on terror home to their towns and give amnesty to millions of illegals it will slowly sink in...they pay the price also.

Did you actually READ his entire posting? I did and I couldn't find any fact that he got wrong. The Congressional Republicans abandoned Conservative principles, and the Republican President doesn't even seem to realize he HAS veto power. So the Republican party got what they deserved.
Now, certainly the Socialist/Liberals are worse...so where are the Conservatives to go? We Conservatives have not abandoned the Republican party, the Republican party has abandoned us.
Where do I find a party that actually BELIEVES and ACTS according to principles of limited government? It sure as F**K ain't the Democrat party and, as the last 12 years have proven, it is demonstrably not the Republican party.
Imho, the choice now is Libertarianism or Socialism.

I voted a straight R ticket, for the eminent domain ban in FL, and against Leon County's tax increase for indigent health care (voted no, after all, libertarians want to heap the poor into huge pits and hose them with napalm [/s]). I did my part to elect Crist as governor. I voted for Harris even though I personally don't care for her (because it doesn't matter, she'd have been a vote against Dem retardedness). I did my part, as a libertarian, for the cause. Boortz is pretty purist in his libertarianism, and I suspect he's going to like this Dem majority a lot less as he goes along. I understand his frustration, but I think it's self-defeating to let perfect be the enemy of good neough.

The same goes for any purists here. If you stayed home, you earned this one.

First I would ask you list the times a President Vetoed his own parties legislation.

If you need to use a second hand to keep track I will be amazed.

You don't place the responsibility to hold spending on the President and expect much. EVEN REAGAN Did not veto his own parties legislation. The easier way to stop spending is don't put big spenders in Congress.

Fine, if you want to nickpick, the Republican congress was the big spenders and the Republican congress just lost and deserved to lose.

I'm sorry but I'm not going to vote for a person just because they steal less from me then the other guy, both parties are thieves. If we're lucky we can get another government shutdown like we had in the 90's. If we can't cut the size of government we might as well freeze it in it's place.

Dude, the republicans lost because they suck- it's just that simple. They abandoned their base- especially the fiscally libertarian wing of the party. The only people to blame for the loss are themselves and hopefully we can all learn from this and rebound to win in '08 instead of blaming disgruntled voters.

I would love to have someone to blame it on other than the GOP. But I can't really bring myself to say that you haven't hit the nail squarely on the head. The GOP started losing the leadership shortly after they won it in 1994. Somehow they just never seemed like they understood they were now in the majority and as such they were calling the shots. A good example of their failure to rise to the majority was the 'power sharing' in the early years. Time and again they let themselves get rolled by the minority. A major problem with their wielding of power was the inability or unwillingness to discipline members who seemed to strike out on their own, disregarding the Party's best interest, a la letting chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee keep his position after he dropped the ball. The hue and cry was practically universal among the little guy in the GOP to make an example of him and deprive him of his leadership role, a role usually reserved for those who have helped, not hurt, the party. Time and again they gave in to the urge to be party of nice guys, unlike the minority who would lie to you to your face then stab you in the back when you turned to leave. Politics is a tough world, and trying to get along in it with unilateral nice guy behavior is just like trying to fight terror around the world with politically correct tactics. It ain't going to work and in the end you're going to have the worst of both worlds, with you on the bottom of the heap.

Dunno about Talent, but the 3rd party in VA was the green candidate who, shockingly enough dropped out the day before and backed Webb. You can pretty much move the vast majority of her 25k some votes to the Webb Category.

Libertarians are true conservatives. They want small central government and believe fervently in individual rights and responsibilities. I happen to be a Republican with Libertarian leanings (I disagree strongly with some of the positions of the Libertarian Party, such as immediate withdrawal from Iraq), as are many of the Republicans in this part of the country. We oppose the activist judiciary, the Federal Government's illegal and costly war on drugs, and other federal initiatives clearly outside of the role of the Federal Government as defined in the Constitution, such as the ridiculous No Child Left Behind program championed by W.

Get real, it was not the Libertarians/Independents that did it to the Republicans. Use your brain, it was our Republican Congress/Administration that did it to themselves.

Libertarians/Independents did not cause Foley to mess with paiges, nor did they try to cover it up. They didn't try to give amnesty to illegals. They didn't grow government faster than the Dems did.

Your blaming Libertarians/Independents is like blaming guns for crime/killing people.
