This is a GREAT article.......however, what are we to do? Here's how I see it.
The AMERICAN PEOPLE have spoken and apparently "we've lost" our way.
It's hard to ask the American People to sacrifice when there is no "leadership" coming from the top. Lets start with the Commander in Chief. George Bush I love the man and voted for him twice BUT he didn't LEAD, eg. win "The War in Iraq" pause for peace in Fallujah infuriated me and tells the tale of "Resolve" do you want War and are you willing to fight for it. The lack of any type of Fiscal Responsibility, eg. prescription drug plan, pork laden highway bill, "lost his veto pen". Congress who followed into the void of leadership. I can't name one thing that Bush or the Congress did that was good for the country.....not one. These are main points only and are not meant to shame or blame anyone including George Bush it just to show a lack of Leadership. This has nothing to do with Liberalism and everthing to do with Leadership. (PERIOD)
.
What can be done.....this is bad.....
.
The Soviet Union should invade Europe.
.
John Bolton should withdraw himself from th U.N. and the seat should be left empty. All funding should cease.
.
China should invade Taiwan.
.
Withdraw ALL troops from Korea, South Korea, Germany, Middle East, Europe, & Japan.
.
Bring all of our Aircraft Carriers AND Submarines home (leave them surfaced for verification purposes)
.
Notice I did not mention disarming the armed forces because we will need every single them when the entire planet (Except the U.S.)is engulfed in WAR.
.
WE NEED SOME REAL LEADERS The last one we had was Ronald Reagan (and he was an actor). This would be a starting point. The leaders we, The American People, have now have no business leading anyone, this includes Foreign Governments. Until we're WILLING to stop playing around we should let whats inevitable (Global War) happen and hope that by then we will have lost enough to yearn for our REPUBLIC back. Hopefully by then it might be appreciated.
.
Just My Humble Opinion

I woke up at 6:30 singing - It's Terror Time Again (from Scooby Doo on Zombie Island).
It wasn't until after I had a can of soda and had played that section a few times in the effort to get it out of my head that I realized why I was singing it.
The last thing I heard on the radio before I finally fell asleep was that bitch McCrazy beat Talent.

So are we going to have to wear leisure suits and spend our weekends at the roller disco? No, but we are quite likely to get a "goody two shoes" imbecilic President. Times have changed though, it will probably be a woman, and not from a southern state.

The formula for military conflicts, I think, is to make them quick and very painful for the opposition, and quick and very painless for the American public. There will be a small, angry minority crying foul - the trick is to end it before their words end up compelling a majority of Americans.I agree, totally.
Where is our 21st century George Patton?

Thank you for your blunt honesty.
The pullback from Fallujah was a wakeup call for me, too.
My slogan for the next election:
"No more Bushes".

We have already been tip toing into isolationism. I think history would say, it's a bad approach.

It's more like, 1974 Indeed. If we see choppers evacuating people from the roofs of the US Embassies in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Israel, then it will be 1975... times three. But unlike the Vietnamese, this enemy has already attacked us at home, and will not hesitate to do it again.

Maybe the Liberaltarians are onto something with their Free State project. How about a Red States Project, to create a continguous bloc in a strategic part of North America. We're already most of the way there. Create a new party that is strictly geared toward those states - forget about the big tent. Just thinking outside the box. Let the rest of the country turn into Norway 1940. Meanwhile the rest of us get serious.

It's more like the late 80's then the late 70's. Reagan wasn't going to fumble the cold war in spite of D victories in '86. W won't fumble the WOT dispite D victories in '06.

I am. GWB is many things, not all of them good, but one thing he is not is a quitter, and one thing he is not is afraid.

So long? I'm expecting before 2008. The Muslims have a way of validating Tolkien's Theoden King's dictum "Oft evil will evil mar." 9/11 tipped their hand too early for their strategic good, and I expect them to react to the election outcome the way sharks react to blood in the water.

W won't fumble the WOT dispite D victories in '06. He already has with the Gates appointment to Sec. Defense, and letting Porter Goss go at CIA, replacing him with a Negroponte stooge, Hadley...and thence rehiring the Arabist RAT/Mole back in as Deputy.

We did this once before when the Dems ran the Jimmy Carter formula again with Bill Clinton(1992-2000) which ironically coincided with the grunge slacker look repackaging 1970s fashions in Seattle during the 1990s. So this at least the second "Second Coming" of the 1970s. Look for a BeeGees Revival next.
