Something to think about without starting an argument.
How is it that these two people wrote letters and the name Jesus does not appear in either letter? Where are any scriptural references from the Bible? Do we know that they aren't placing their faith in the "Purple Rock of Pluto God"?
I'm always very leary of false profits. Now I'm not looking to judge but a Christian preacher should have said something about Christ's redemption. All these two did was speak about a generic God. They also managed to mention works and tithing.
So, I'm troubled about them. I'll pray for their peace and salvation but I don't think I'd ever follow them anywhere.

Where are any scriptural references from the Bible? In this instance, it is probably most apporopritate not to cite Scripture but convey through action its principles. He, is defrocked, and is no longer in the leadership role -- citing Scripture wouldn't be right.

Quit nitpicking. Gayle refers to a "Savior" in her letter. It's obvious they're talking about Jesus. That letter was good enough and there's no reason to paste in some out of place scripture that suppose to be "relevant".

This is not about Christ. This is about her husband. There is NO need for Scriptural references here. It is common knowledge within the Bible base community that homosexuality is wrong and so is taking illegal drugs. What on earth is the "Purple Rock of Pluto God"?
The husband was dead wrong and living a hypocritical life. Nod doubt about it but I don't believe he is worse than you as a sinner. You're a sinner too. His problem is that he is a LEADER and held to a higher degree of accountability than a layman. He knows that.

It's NOT about Christ! This is a humbling before the church and others he deceived and betrayed! They are NOT speaking about a "generic god". GEESH!
He is stepping DOWN however they want the church to go on. A church needs money. It doesn't rain down from heaven. I hear his ministry was pretty good. People will be tempted to move on. This is about the husband and his fall; not about the CHURCH however they want whoever takes over to have the money to continue preaching the message.

I'm troubled about the whole thing too.
Frankly I would imagine he is utterly ashamed. When you're so ashamed are you so quick to bring up the name of Jesus? Surely there is something in your life that you'd rather others not know. It's hard for me to relate to him, Haggard but when you've been so deceptive etc.. I can understand why he is NOT mentioning Jesus' name - he's ashamed. He let Christ down - big time. He hurt others - big time.
What they both need are prayers - not criticism. He admitted what he did. I don't need the sorted details. Enough has been said. He has has for forgiveness. He's humbled himself and stepped down. This is a broken man. I'm not interested in dancing on his grave or suggesting I'm so much better than he is. I'm NOT better. I'm just another sinner too.

I agree, King Kong. Not one mention of the healing and restorative power of the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
