O you who turn justice to wormwood,
and cast down righteousness to the earth!
He who made the Pleiades and Orion,
and turns deep darkness into the morning,
and darkens the day into night,
who calls for the waters of the sea,
and pours them out upon the surface of the earth,
the LORD is his name,
who makes destruction flash forth against the strong,
so that destruction comes upon the fortress.

They hate him who reproves in the gate,
and they abhor him who speaks the truth.

For I know how many are your transgressions,
and how great are your sins --
you who afflict the righteous,
who take a bribe, and turn aside the needy in the gate.

Seek good, and not evil, that you may live;
and so the LORD, the God of hosts,
will be with you, as you have said.
Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate.

Amos 5: 7-10, 12, 14-15a

O Lord, hear our prayers. So much is at stake. Guard our nation, and uncover the wrongs done pretending to be good, and the good prevented by those who call it bad.

Touch the hearts of your faithful, and may we vote as you will this election.

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
he chastens and hastens his will to make known;
the wicked oppressing now cease from distressing:
sing praise to his Name, he forgets not his own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
so from the beginning the fight we were winning:
thou, Lord, wast at our side: all glory be thine!

We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
and pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation:
thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

May it be, Merciful Father, that the Spirit of Truth would sweep across our beloved land, falling upon the people as we consider those who will lead this nation in these perilous times. Bring forth only those candidates who bear witness to the Truth of Your Word, that they be worthy under shepherds of Your work on this earth. Bless every one who stands in the gap for the unborn ... may they overcome by Your Grace. Bless every one who believes that Your Word contains the laws of truth and justice ... may they prevail. Bless every one who seeks to liberate and not dominate ... may they have good success. Raise up the Godly, O God, and put asunder the ungodly ... let righteousness rule and reign.
