Quix, I am new to blogging. What is a ping list? Thanks, timfromfargo
Thanks for your kind question.
Strictly speaking, FR is NOT a blog.
A blog is a net web--page, at least--often at a site with a lot of individual web pages--which are narrative text about anything that the blogger cares to put on the pages sequentially, much as a diary. Blogs tend to be more . . . verbose than a lot of diary entries, however, imho.
FREREPUBLIC.COM
Is a conservative website where articles are posted and responded to. That sequence of articles and responsive posts constitute a dialogue about the article and thoughts and issues triggered thereby.
Individuals posting on the thread--FREEPERS HERE--are called also, posters to that thread. Their individual contributions are called posts.
On FREEREPUBLIC.COM and other sites . . . different individuals maintain ping lists. A ping list is a list of forum screennames of those who've asked to be on a given ping list because they are interested in a particular topic.
I maintain (with help on the UFO list) a UFO ping list and an END TIMES/PROPHECY/DREAMS/VISIONS PING LIST.
When a thread is brought to the attention of the ping list holders that they think is worthy and of interest to their list of members, they post a PING to the ping list to alert the list members that such a thread is available and awaiting their reading and responses.
If you have any questions I can answer about the above, please ask me.
Welcome.
Blessings,
Quix
