tonight we may be going to the Halloween party at the Steven Udvar-Hazy Museum with the kids next door. It's really the second Smithsonian Air and Space Museum here in the NVA area. Really neat and I wanted to have kids to take to it. So I asked for 6 tickets ( it's free). I'll know today if we're going so I need to get everything else done.
Tomorrow, we are going to church as usual. But we, are taking two of our friends with us. They are Hindu and expressed a desire to come to our church since they don't get to temple very often. Uma reads the Bible every day and Sunny's children from a first marriage are all Christians. I am happy to have them with us. This is a most unusual request.
Tomorrow I will be busy with the kids during Sunday school since we are having a Reformation Sunday celebration. (a Halloween party was dissed by some of the teachers - they teach in the public schools too and I am sure this influenced their decision.)
Anyway, we are painting pumpkins and making carmel apples after listening to Pastor talk about Reformation Sunday and Martin Luther.
The whole thing is very disturbing to me, and it makes me glad that there is some effort to push back a bit. My grandkids will be going trick-or-treating, and I don't see anything wrong with that, but I hope that churches will increasingly go against the trend if for no other reason than to get adults to GROW UP.
