Duke hates its athletes --

http://www.heraldsun.com/sports/18-780800.html

"Duke athletics director Joe Alleva said that if Finnerty and Seligmann were cleared of the charges, it first would be up to the university to decide their fate.

"If they get reinstated back into school -- that would be the first process -- then we will reconsider their status with the lacrosse team," Alleva said. "It all comes back to them being reinstated into school first, and then we would consider it.

"The key word there is 'consider.' "

Why did anyone expect Duke's "official" attitude to be any different?

I would not expect Duke Athletics official policy to be any different. If you are not a Duke student, you of course can not play for Duke.

BTW, yesterday all day on the ESPN crawl it said the new Duke lacrosse coach said Finnerty and Seligmann would be reinstated to the team if they were cleared of charges in this case. So either Duke was back tracking or someone didn't get the memo?

Of course from the statement Seligmann has made, I do not figure he is odds on to reenroll in Duke. But you never know.

Alleva makes me sick. Sick, sick, sick. I hope he isn't making the final decision. Sounds like Reade will not be going back to Duke but Collin's father said he wants to.

Good news. Thanks to KC Johnson I now know that Alleva will have NOTHING to do with the decision of re-admitting Collin and Reade to Duke and whether they can rejoin the lax team.

KC e-mailed John Burness and he said if CF and RS are acquitted and want to return the policy is that they'll be re-admitted. And it's Coach Danowski's decision whether they can be on the team and Alleva has nothing to do with it.
