(CBS) The three Duke lacrosse players indicted for a rape they say they didn't commit are indignant over the effect the charges are having on their lives and their families.

But if I did live in Durham,I would make it my business know things.
LOL! I would know who lived in each Trinity Park house, what they had for dinner, who they socialized with and who was sleeping with whom.
I am more convinced than ever that a group of people (maybe even 2 at most) saw this rape charge as the Golden Egg.
Of course, not everyone in that area is like that, maybe just a small few. As I said yesterday, I have come across blogs by some residents who dripped with hatred towards these boys.
These pot banging haters are elite in their own smug way. After reading some of these blogs, I swear I smell a setup.
It may be a setup after the fact, but a setup just the same. I know the last time I mentioned this the majority thought I was way off. And most probably will still think I have left the reservation on this one. I think I had the right idea, but was looking at it wrong.

Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and NAACP President Bruce Gordon should've cautioned blacks against a rush to judgment to condemn the accused without all the facts. They didn't. Their great fear is that if they rebuke blacks that abuse race to grab headlines that would be tantamount to race treason. That's a false fear. If anything, a swift and firm denunciation of the race card in rape cases would enhance the credibility of black leaders. It would show that they are willing to make the tough call and criticize other blacks when they justly deserve criticism.
Women's groups should have taken the same wait and see approach to the case. They know that a bogus charge of rape in an impassioned racially charged case could do great damage to their relentless battle to get the police, courts and the media to treat rape as a deadly crime.
