Alright Suzy,.. I'm going to start a firestorm here, but here goes...I'm a woman, and I believe a little porn is fine for men. I see NOTHING wrong with it. Women want men to be like them...but men are visually stimulized, as well you know, so why would I deny my husband something that makes him happy once in awhile???? I also believe Prostitution should be legalized.

Good God Hildy, I'll pray for you and your husband. If your husband is into PORN, then something is very wrong with your marriage. Your FRIENDSHIP and LOVE should stimulate him, not some stranger doing sexual things. He needs help, so do you if you condone that action.

I'm a woman, and I believe a little porn is fine for men.I'm a man, and I can tell you that the married guys I know who are into porn ALL have "problematic" relationships with their wives.
None of them seem truly happily married. Now, whether porn is the cause or a symptom is beyond my ability to know.

I also believe Prostitution should be legalized.
So then it would be ok for your daughter?
How about offering it as a college elective?

I think you'll find that if you look at psychological case studies, there is no such thing as "a little porn" for most people - just like there is no such thing as "a little drug abuse" for most people. It becomes a self perpetuating process over time where the porn abuser - like the drug abuser - gets drawn ever deeper into ever more unhealthy levels of involvement. That is why we've gone from a society that had its Playboys hidden to a society that has bestiality and worse available on the internet at a click of a mouse in a few short decades. Regarding prostitution, every society known to man has placed restrictions on what sort of commerce an individual can engage in for profit. In Amsterdam, you cannot sell your child. In America, you cannot sell your child - neither can you sell yourself. One would logically ask why a society that has seen it fit to ban indentured servitude would permit prostitution. After all, indentured servitude may last longer but the individual involved will only be polishing your cabinets. The sort of radical liberatrianism that you advocate has one serious drawback: it doesn't work in the real world and societies that experiment with it break down.

Civilization got on just fine without any significant distribution of porn for thousands of years. You're looking at one of the downsides of the information age and extrapolating it to be an integral part of the human nature. Morally bankrupt and intellectually sloppy.

Oh man! I guess you knew what you were getting into when you posted that.
Pron ain't the problem. If he's sneakin' around to watch it, that's a problem. If she knows and doesn't mind, that's a problem. If they watch it together and it's a major part of their intimacy, That's a problem.
But depictions of coupling have been around since people started scratching on cave walls. I agree with you in that there's no harm in a little spice, but people like Sara's soon-to-be-ex need a lot of help.

Hildy, i agree with you on both comments. Except that you say a little porn is fine for men. I think that it is probably fine for both sexes.
