I've struggled with Matthew 5:28 - in context with the rest of the chapter, Jesus is basically teaching us that even if we follow the 10 commandments to the 'T' - we ain't all that. We still are sinning, because I'm sure even Mother Teresa lusted, or was envious, or cried "you Fool!" from time to time.

But maybe you're right. My main point is the TO A WOMAN, cheating is becoming emotionally attached to another person, regardless of a sex act. To God (not that I would try to speak for Him), it's got to be no good from any angle.

Heck, now that I'm a Dad of a daughter, I can't even go to a Hooters anymore; I can't NOT look at the girls as somebody's daughters. Kind of ruins the effect. Slowly, surely, God is doing his work in me, and one day I'll be totally rid of the wretched weakness. But I ai'nt there yet.

My main point was to let women know that men do compartmentalize, and that their men have no intention of running away with Jenna Jameson, they don't love her, they probably don't even like her. But they WILL look at her. Still a sin, just a different sin.

I'm a guy, and if this definition is anywhere near being true, I'm a polygamist.

True - but my main point (and the Lord's, I suspect) is that it's not enough to just "not run away with another woman", and say "good enough". Thought, word and deed are all related. Therefore, I'm not comfortable in saying "looking ain't cheating" - it's just different degrees of the SAME sin, and we all know that 1% of sin is still sin. It may be true to say "looking ain't LEAVING"...but that's not really the point.

I believe men rationalize when we say that we compartmentalize.

How does one compartmentalize poison once it enters the body? The eyes that lust and objectify a child of God, made in His own image, through pornography are the same eyes that behold a beloved spouse or precious daughter.

Slowly, surely, God is doing his work in me, and one day I'll be totally rid of the wretched weakness.

It's great to read of your hope in God's healing grace to overcome what you describe as your wretched weakness. He has obviously been speaking to you in your conscience. He will give you the strength to overcome. I'll spare you the detailed testimonial, but I speak as a witness to His healing power in my own life regarding this issue.

For what it's worth, many who struggle to overcome the lure of pornography find that is helpful to recall that Jesus responded to the Devil's temptations by reciting scripture.
