If anything about the obituary is to be believed, why shouldn't one believe the statement that the deceased fathered nine children?
Children have parents, regardless of the bonds that form or don't form to create a warm, loving family atmosphere. Parents plus children = family unit in America as recognized in our laws. I have worked in the juvenile justice system and know many children remain connected in their hearts and minds, even if only in small ways, to some hideously bad parents. These offspring have lost a father, however pathetic a life he may have led.
