I won't do this very often, but as of 3:20 PM EDT 09/13/2006, the Etna Webcams (primarily 1 and 3) are showing incandescent activity.

My nomination for the BEST geology reference on earthquakes and tectonic movement: Dr. Bruce Bolt's "Earthquakes and Geological Discovery" Excellent (short), very complete-but-not-mathematical but clearly explained book about earthquakes, plates, volcanism, and what actually happens to the waves, the earth, and the buildings around a quake. 217 pages, great graphics or pictures on every page.
Best overall geology book: Cattermole's Building Planet Earth. 5 Billion Years of Earth History
