They detectives in the courtroom, and there may have been more, were not all there because of a defense subpoena - or because they served an old warrant.

The Defense lawyer said twice in court (maybe closing argument) - Why are they here? Why are they here today, if this has nothing to do with Duke case. So, if Himan was in fact there for a legitimate reason, then there was two others.
I suspect Linwood Wilson was there. I don't think there was any legitimate reason for Clayton or Wilson to be there.

Himan did record in his notes (and ONLY him) that Nifong wanted Elmostafa arrested and wanted to be alerted when he was in Police custoday.

Somebody may have already mentioned this, if so, sorry.

Himan had that in his notes, yes, and testified to it. Clayton served the warrant and he asked Elmo at that time if he had anything else to say about the Duke case just before arresting him. Since the defense raised the issue of this being a vendetta/intimidation arrest, it follows that those two were called to testify.
