I have a sneaking suspision that a few faculty members may wish they'd kept their liberal mouths shut before all is said and done. The gang of 88 has been silent as of late.
Where are the favorite teachers of the lacrosse players?
Do they too feel their foremost duty as teachers--or even as human beings--is to keep quiet when their students are being lynched?
Even if they have to resign in order to speak out--then why don't they resign?
The whole Duke faculty are acting like "good Germans"--not a part of the Holocaust, but simply minding their own business and seeing nothing, and pretending that since they aren't directly involved, they have no responsibility and are innocent of everything.
What a grand legacy and example to leave for future generations of Dukies--NOT!
Duke itself will be remembered most for its abysmal silence.
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." (Martin Luther King)
